This. Why is there only 1 sane response in this silly thread? What human, much less competitive team of any sort, doesn't want to get better starting right now, to look ahead to real goals (this year or the next or the next) and start working toward those goals? You have games on the schedule and practices that you cannot get back in your college "career". Throwing those away is idiotic.

But you can't expect people not to be a little critical when he just spoke to the team two weeks ago about finishing out the season strong

He tried to be a leader on this team and my coaches and fellow teammates kept on not giving a shite, eventually you have to put yourself in a position to maximize your own potential.

Regardless of any "ra ra" speeches people will give about being a leader, this life is first and foremost about yourself and your family.

TM has the opportunity to realize that goal. No reason for him to risk losing that opportunity for a team and staff that doesn't care.

Lol these Tigers dont have any goals this season. I'm starting to think they didn't have any goals at the beginning of the season either.

Can we just admit that he made a decision that is probably best for him and his family AND quitting on the team was a shitty thing to do to his teammates, especially after the speech he gave before the Arkansas game.

That’s fair. But at the same time I don’t know how or why any of us can pretend to truly know how his teammates feel about his decision. I’m sure it’s a mixed bag and that many of them are fully supportive of him. Also, as always, there are certainly facts concerning the situation to which none of us are privy.

My main curiosity is with the people who are acting like they’ve been personally victimized by Marshall and viciously attacking him. Just a bizarre psychological case study

Yeah. I don’t think any fan is a victim and players own us nothing

But i also don’t think we need to heap praise on a guy who just bailed on his teammates.

To show enough film to get drafted. Orgeron knew that Marshall quit his team and let him play anyway. He should have sat his arse.

Didn't they win the next game? And yesterday they played their best defensive game and finished with the same exact total yards as aTm (who is ranked #5), but the offense just couldn't capitalize. Still, a win and a 20-7 loss on the road to #5 was still much better than this team was performing before that.

The 2 biggest things left are in preparation for the future;

#1 you want to see the defense continue to improve, to the point they're a solid respectable unit. Last night was a good start, we don't get to face Mond again so it's tougher.

#2 you want to see a RB emerge and take claim of the spot. No more "play the hot hand", you want to see someone take over.

You get the bulk of this team back in complete form, with Brennan back in 2021. If he plays like he did, with a solid defense and an established #1 RB beside him, we're a top 10 team easy.

To answer the other part of the question, there's nothing left for Marshall to do. He wasn't coming back next year anyway. I think that's why he hasn't been targeted 12-15 times a game, they're actually trying to prep for next year.

Win games, beat their hated rivals, finish above .500, secure a bowl invite, benefit from the additional practices and media exposure associated with bowls, avoid the embarrassment of a losing season, all of which will help recruiting and contribute to future successes and championships. Marshall could help all LSU achieve all of that because he is an excellent player.

What was there to play for after the Missouri game

Where is the bar set in terms of what is acceptable and what's not? I mean, one loss, two losses, three? Should we just shut the entire program down after two losses?

I'm really not trying to be an a-hole here. I'm just sincerely interested in how we move forward with that mentality.
