Camgate has made me appreciate Les all the more...

When LSU was having players with behavior problems, Les cleaned up the mess. He booted RP, a 5-star QB. He also booted some linemen than were misbehaving. The last 2 years our W-L record has suffered because of this and Les has taken immense amounts of heat. Since then he's recruited nothing but "character" guys. This past off-season we barely had any off-field issues. And we've fought our way back into the title hunt. Les has run a tight ship. Kudos Les!

Painful, but the right thing to do. You can't let the talent walk all over you. Sets a bad precedence. Glad he did it too.

i agree. the way les handled the Tolliver situation was brilliant. I'd much rather go to a BCS bowl or a new years day bowl year in and year out with character guys then go the NC game with criminals

I'm glad we have a well disciplined team as well, but come on, please tell me you understand that Perriloux pretty much left Miles no choice in the matter.

Yes, but once RP was gone he stopped taking shite from any other players. That's when he started cleaning it up.

The fact is, the players love him. Can't get around it. They love to play for him and they connect with him.
I'll truly appreciate Les when he get's rid of Crowton and installs Billy Gonzalez as O.C. Trust me, Gonzo is no "passing game coordinator." Les got him from UF because Billy was very upset with Urban Meyer, and Crowton does not let him do anything of much importance. Go watch them warm up and familiarize yourself with Billy's picture. He literally is not doing anything. I know for a fact that Crowton has handstrung him, because he's scared he'll get fired.The only thing he does is work with them running routes, and the players run good routes (it's true), they just don't catch the ball. Watch the film. Let's just hope Crowton gets fired.

Agreed Les runs a clean program. He has on occasion gotten burned by bringing in low caliber character guys like Perriloux. I am trusting Les on this Mettenberger thing. I hope it doesn't blow up in LSUs face. I know the kid is a great football player, but he is not in the SEC for a reason. Hopefully he has learned from a very serious mistake. Time will tell. It's high risk high reward. I am not buying him as the savior of the football program just yet. He has to come in here and show good behavior and character.

Very true! Les Miles seems to have a lot of "character" and expects his players to have the same "character" on and off the field.

What exactly did Mettenberger do that was so bad? I know he grabbed a girl's arse in a bar or something like that. I must be missing the rest of the story here.

I'll take clean character over championships any day.
Football is a game. I love watching it. But I want to watch good people playing it. I cannot cheer for a thug.

I agree with you, but I've always thought that Perilloux was bought and paid for - which is why it took so many suspensions and so much to let him go. I would bet he was given "hush up money" as well.
I thought something was fishy with him all of a sudden de-committing from Texas and committing to LSU.

This thought has crossed my mind also. One thing that LSU and the rest of the SEC (or the rest of college football for that matter) can take away from Camgate is NOT what to be.
I know I've been critical with Les's Xs, Os, and on the field player development, however his off the field player development has been superb. The off the field character development can and will affect each LSU Tiger in a positive way for the rest of their lives.
