I expect him to and we all should.

I thought the punter was returning. When did he announce for the portal?

Transfer portal and NIl was not going that first year. He also had a NFL Talent QB.

If he can find a QB he will be fine. Maybe not 10 win fine. The OL would be my concern. You better have a qb that can run around.

CBK earned his leeway with a SECW Championship and a trip to Title game. Problem is he thought it was as hard as he thought got content and wasn’t ready for the next year.

Correct. All of these are SEC rankings.

How did that top defense do against Ole Miss this year. I wonder if I looked far back enough if I could find a bit more confidence in it before that game happened.

Any comparison to the pre NIL/transfer era are inapplicable. The game completely changed once coaches had the opportunity to add experienced starters at their leisure. That means the timeline for the expectation of success is expedited. My goodness, you have one of the worst programs in college football history, (Indiana) going 23-1 over the last 2 regular seasons and is the odds-on favorite to win the national championship.

You guys had a top five defense this year but then you guys played us and everything fell apart. At least that's what you were telling everybody.

Uhh held Ole Miss to their lowest point total of the year if the QB wasn’t donkey brained the defense more than did its job to win the game

Let’s play alternate history. Brian kelly was NOT fired and is headed into year 5, he has hired a new OC (maybe, he wanted to keep Sloan) and OL coach. We keep most of our offensive players but Blake Baker didn’t stay on with kelly and we have a new DC and part new defensive staff. So what conversations are we having now?? Kiffin would probably be at Florida with Levitt visiting them.
In this scenario we have little to look forward to. Our offense reeked and without Baker so would our defense.
Let’s thank Texas A&M one last time first helping rid us of Brian Kelly!!

Corral was injured in sugar bowl, hurt his draft slightly, still drafted then got hurt pretty bad in pre season, was never able to bounce back.

He was absolutely a NFL talent.

Lane had Corral NFL draft, Dart NFL draft, and Chambliss who is Jaden Daniels like, Year 2 will be fun.

So yes, he had a NFL Talent at QB.

Lk would not have made it at OM without the portal. He hit gold with qb and WR play on offense, and usually found enough defense to make it work.

He would have been decent at OM (relative to their historic standards) but not NC contender good. That's why LSU paid so much for him and the expectations are so high. He's EXPECTED to continue his portal success combined with LSU's traditional HS recruiting prowess

He hates traditional recruiting. Not sure he could have built a roster that old way. Especially as we are learning he is not very well organized. Lebby Durkin kept it on track the first 2 years, and Golding since.

Lane is good at coaching offense. Remind me, who does he coach for?

I don't think we can much compare anything now as to what it was 2 or 3 years ago and more.

Too much has changed.

I still expect good things to come.
