He is too lean for true edge and inner box play with the guards. He has the speed to play deep and down on the line. Definitely has ball skills. He would be better at safety than Burns. He is like the badger imo. Why not try? Think Derwin James.

He’s Jacoby, physically, but faster.

if he has the speed, it seems like a good fit. safeties can be very effective blitzing. if he can cover backs and TE's...

To me if he doesn’t put weight on this year he has to bc he needs a true projected position for the league

It really isn't. He doesn't have the size to play on the line or edge.

Seen it many times this season, lineman would get a hold of him and he was blown up and not effective.

He actually did decent when he was dropped into coverage.

Maybe Baker can use him better than House and change that but it's definitely not a horrible take.

In the old days, he would have been ideal for the rover or monster man position.

I don't think it's crazy at all, he doesn't have the size of an edge/LB, a hybrid safety may suit him better.

What are you talking about? He’s basically a Box Safety with a different title today. We may call him a SAM, but that position is similar to Fullback in football today- almost completely obsolete. He played the Nickle role on passing downs. How is this any different than how a Box Safety would be treated?

You're not.

He's 100% a safety and anyone that says otherwise doesn't understand football.

To me he covered better than our other DB’s when put on WR, TE’s, or RB’s.

Maybe Genius.
Strong run support.
Elite speed.
Decent coverage skills.

Not a crazy idea.

If they've been trying to bulk him up (they have) and then move him to safety, they'd also change the diet and he'd likely lean out a little and get faster. I'd love to see him as a box safety/disruptor.

I was thinking about that in the bowl game. I think it works. Remember Brian Urlacher was a safety in college too.
