What if I think BYU is the #1 team in the country?

What then?

Idiot.

They beat Arizona, Mississippi St, and Michigan St last year. Their four losses (to Utah, UCLA, West Virginia, and Boise St) were each by 3 points or less.

They beat 3 teams that were 3-9, 6-7 and 3-9? Impressive. And they loss to a 4-8 UCLA team? Toledo put more points (53) on them than they did on any other team they played on their half-assed MAC schedule. If BYU was in the SEC they would be Vanderbilt.

If you think BYU is a solid team capable of giving LSU trouble, then obviously this thread wasn't addressed to you, was it?

They return Mangum and a bunch of guys that have played a lot on D, not to mention they play a cupcake the week before us, so they'll have a leg up on working out some kinks. I've said this before, but I think it will be a close game in the first half, but we pull away in the second. We'll be playing a lot of young guys, finding out who has it and who might not.

Lsu might have lost lot of starters, but almost everyone starting on D got a lot of playing time. White is going to be a beast in the middle and the front 7 should be better than last year. That will help the young guys in the back, but most of them also have significant experience

You have absolutely no clue what you're talking about if you think they are going to be one of the better teams we face this year. BYU is not going to be good this year. Not saying we clean the floor with them as they will have played a game the week before, but BYU is not that good.

Here is your post I was responding to in its entirety. There is absolutely nothing here backing up your opinion. Not saying you're automatically wrong, I just think you should explain.

Moo State and Toledo didn't get many calls in those game IIRC. They didn't have any game changing calls (think Patrick Peterson vs the gumps), but their was some really small stuff that seems to kill drives. In short, home cooking had a hand in those wins imo. I'm not overly concerned if I do see us struggling at first until we pull away. Just my .02.

I was talking more about the guys that will rotate in and be backups. The Phillips, Taylor's, Thornton's, Chiasson's, etc... I agree White will be a beast in the middle, and also on the front 7 being better, even with Duke and Beckwith gone. I think Phillips ends up starting next to White before the end of the season. I think it will take the first half for the offense to work out some kinks and get comfortable, too. Same thing most teams go through in their first game with new coaches and a new scheme.

Definitely better than the expectations of purple and gold glasses-wearers. Tiger fans make the same mistake every year, thinking these early out-of-conference teams on our schedule are cupcakes. There is no year-to-year learning. See: Wisconsin last year.

LSU needs to come to play.

You don't know much about BYU football, then. Do you think they win with skilled athletes? They win by outmanning people by using 24 year-olds who spent several years on religious missions.

So what you're saying is, "If you are underrating BYU, then BYU is better than you think."

Although I don't see it really mattering against the Mormons, for this discussion we have to mention that Key is most likely out for this game. I see this as a possible coming out party for Chaisson.
