Burrow's stats still trump, but the big thing Burrow has is big game moments. He has had three games where everyone was watching and he performed very well.

Even you didn't expect this from burrow, did you?

Be honest, to this level?

I love Joe and Haskins is not an enemy.

But, to be fair, wouldn't Joe's "first 9 games" be last season? Haskins only started one season, correct?

Again, I'm not sure what the point is. I am GLAD Haskins won that job.

Agree

I posted these because there have been a few posts lately that assumed that Haskins' stats were much better than Burrow's at this point into their seasons - 9 games in.

You forgot:

Burrow (LSU) 9-0

Haskins (Ohio State) 8-1

With the "1" being a 29-point loss to a Purdue team that finished 6-7 after a 49-point bowl game loss to an Auburn team that burrow beat in Jordan-Hare Stadium.

I said many times that Burrow would have put up similar numbers to Haskins with Haskins WR's.

And also said that LSU had excellent WRs but that they were badly unprepared for last season. Too many drops.

The Jugs machine mega-reps made the most difference (according to statements from the WRs).

So, these WRs with mega-reps? No not surprised at all.

That Purdue loss falls on the dysfunctional Schiano defense, not on Haskins.

Disagree.

It falls on Day's game plan that was essentially an audition for the Heisman.

Haskins threw the ball 73 times that game. RBs Dobbins and Weber stood around and watched. With Ohio State's RB's, they could have kept Purdue's offense on the bench, and helped a beat up OSU defense fresh.

Purdue was a shite team... 7 losses in 2018

Purdue's pass defense was ranked #129 (out of 130)
73 pass attempts
20 points

Have you never seen his post? He very much did expect this. I thought he was nuts, but he was spot on.

Any way you slice it, OSU lost to a crappy 7-loss team - and stupidly threw the ball 73 times.

(got some nice stats for DH's Heisman campaign, tho... 470 yards - lol)

Jeaux, I've said it all along and will continue to say it... I have and will continue to enjoy eating crow. (Although, I did say that the Brady hire in the spring was the best thing Orgeron has done since he was hired. Just didn't think it would be this huge.)

That said, try not to get sideways in this thread.

Very good point. No way Burrow takes a loss against Purdue.

holy crap that's insane. IF Burrow threw that many times in a game this year, based on his averages his stat line would be:

58/73 781yds 8TDs 1INT

HAHA

" No way Burrow takes a loss against Purdue"

The defense lost the game, and particularly the defensive coaches. Zach Boren (former OSU FB and LBer-- very intelligent player who seamlessly transitioned from FB to LBer, mid season because of injuries) commented on Lettermen Row that Purdue always knew what defense OSU was playing and that any offense could dismantle a defense if the defense didn't disguise its coverages. Last year's OSU defense was historically awful and the worst in OSU history, and also, the coaching (Schiano, Davis and Grinch) was awful.

With new coaches and new schemes, OSU, with very much the same players, has gone from awful to at least a top 5 defense. OSU very poorly defensed the very quick Rondale Moore (sometimes with a LBer), and he went off causing OSU to have to force passes late in the game.

Wow.

I did not even realize Burrow was ahead like this.

Incredibly impressive given the defenses Burrow has played all season.
