re: Burrow: "I don't think a lot of people are used to LSU scoring 40, 50, 60 points a game"

A&M’s defense wasn’t that good, they were helped greatly by their offense controlling the ball. They were in the 70’s in yards per play allowed, but top 5 in fewest defensive plays per game. That ranked them up there with notoriously slow paced teams like Army and Michigan.
A&M had a legit run defense last year but their secondary was complete trash. That said Elko turned them around big time compared to where Sumlin/Chavis had that D.

It’s always frustrated me to see other shite teams out there seemingly run up 40-50 points a game with ease while we struggled to put up 30 on a division 2 squad. I get the SEC has great defense but LSU has been virtually cursed on offense production lately. Hope this changes now.

we ain't, but someone needs to sit Joe down and show him the 2011 season.
I ain't saying this team can't be better (surely, I hope we are); I'm only saying that he needs to see what we regard as great before he can speak on greatness.

2011 offense was efficient I wouldn’t say they were great at all. The defense constantly gave them short fields and got the other team off the field quick. The specialty teams helped a lot as well. It allowed that offense to play Les’s ground and pound and wear them down. That offense was great in the red zone because it had a really good o line and a deep running back Corp.
That team was built to win Les Miles type of football and was great at that.

The 2011 offense was just lucky, and that's the truth I would say. Lol I say that in jest, but in all honesty, also, because truth be told the defense was so good that year with the Honey Badge and all that they constantly got TO's that season to get the ball back to the offense for scoring opportunities, if they (the defense) didn't do it themselves which they did do a lot that year. That defense was a opportunistic, ball hawking in your face do it all type of defense that was just completely fun to watch.
but the, oh, what year was it LSU offense?? 2013-14 I think, Cam Cam's first season at helm for LSU when he became OC, and Miles let him be an OC that season without interfering, well, almost not interfering until later on during the season because he didn't like how "strangely enough" productive the offense was being that season. Lol
Cameron had Mett along with Hill at RB, and great WR's OBJ and Landry humming that season in putting up huge stats. That was probably the best offense that LSU had in awhile imo, even Dicky, I mean Nicky said so himself because he changed his offense the following year in falsely thinking that LSU had gone to a more wide open style of offense. How wrong he was when Miles who of course by now is "famously stubborn" reverted back to the more well known ball control, ground and pound type of attack that he's known for. He didn't like how Cameron had Mettenberger connecting all over the place with Beckham Jr and Landry in putting up 1,000 yd seasons for both as they riddled opposing teams secondaries, if you can believe that. Lol Even though RB Hill himself ran for over a 1,000 yds, Miles just hated wide open offenses even though that wasn't really a wide open attack per se that Cameron had them running that season, but it was the best LSU offense I would say since 2007 when they won the NC.

Or it's just his first offseason with LSU football lol. We get a new better offense that's gonna score tons of points every offseason.

Agree... And it will take confidence to make it happen. Some things to consider:
1) Burrow has played against all the SEC defenses he faces in '19 (except Vandy)
2) He knows exactly what Brady has installed.
3) He's been working with the LSU offense all off-season.
4 So, he knows exactly what his teammates can do in this offense.
5) And, he grew up running this offense.
40, 50, 60 points? I tend to believe the young man :)

This needs another bump!
Not only is Joe a great QB, he is also a prophet.
