They did want him running, hell coach O just said that Monday he would have liked to run him more if not for the injury to Brennan. The atm game (granted it was like 2 games) he ran 29 times. That's when Brennan was back to health. So I don't buy the whole they didn't want to run him line of thinking

We've been shut out 2 of the last 3 years (both at home) and have lost the last 3 by double digits.

Let's just worry about scoring some points first - then we can talk about winning the game.

yea, that's the real problem.

Not that we've lost 8 in a row. Been shut out 2 of the last 3 (twice at home). Lost the last 3 by double digits.

Nah, it's the refs fault.

Childish thinking.

I think having a modern offense in which passes aren't considered trick plays will certainly help. Imagine if defenses had to worry about the ball being passed to RBs and TEs. What if they had to worry about quick passes? Or screens?

LSU has played bama close quite a few times with zero offensive creativity. Played them close despite bama knowing what play was about to be ran.

SU’s offense will be predicated on getting the ball out of his hands quickly. That could help negate what is always a formidable Alabama defensive front.

fabulous, until they start squatting on short routes. our OL has shown struggles last two years at protecting for intermediate and deep routes. it is why we went to max protect last year yet we still failed because then you limit number of receivers yet we still could not block worth a shite at TIMES even in max protect.

we will need to use the hole damn field and when we spread horizontally we need to gouge vertically/north -south CUM/gus bus-freeze-dabo style when they have beaten bama.

I will automatically upvote anyone and everyone who posts a gif of Burrow saying “this is my fricking house,” then throws up the L’s. His swag is off the chain.

Only problem is can we finally stop that Bama front 7 from being able to sack the QB and disrupt the pocket causing the QB to scramble or to get sacked

When it comes to Clemson's offensive success against Alabama, everyone harps on the fact that Clemson spreads them out. Everyone believes this is key factor but it's just the beginning.

Clemson is able to have success because they go into each matchup with a game plan to run as many offensive plays as possible with an uptempo approach. They use spreading them out, uptempo & the matchup philosophy early on to exploit the underneath passing game. This allows them to sustain drives & put points on the board in the 1st half.

That accomplishes two things. The volume of plays begin to wear on Bama's front by the 3rd quarter. That's when Clemson is able to begin to take deep shots downfield because the Tide's pass rush is becoming fatigued. Secondly, it opens up the run game due to Bama's front not being able to provide the push to stop the run.

Clemson executed this game plan to perfection in this past championship game. Its why you saw Bama players for the first time under Saban, begin to give a half assed effort. They quit.

On the otherhand, SEC West teams like LSU, Miss St & Arkansas have tried to pound Alabama with the run game early when they are fresh. All that does is get your offense 3 & outs while keeping Bama's front fresh for 2nd half. The only west team that has somewhat had success in the past few years against Bama is Ole Miss & they used the same formula as Clemson. The key to slowing their pass rush down is an uptempo approach using intermediate routes in the 1st half. Once you wear down their front, it allows an offense to open up the playbook in the 2nd half.

The coaches & players play to win the game. They don't play for frickin cookies or a participation trophy.

Regarding the rap being given Burrow for "holding on to ball too long":

He was green in this system last year
They didn't want him running much last year
Every game saw a new OL personnel group
He had some freshmen receivers also green on playbook

I, for one, have grown weary of last year's excuses.

Here's the only question you need to ponder: You don't think if we had Clemson's staff, or Hugh Freeze, or any of several others as OC that we wouldn't have scored some on Bama last year?

I think this team is going to feed off Burrow's confidence, it's contagious. Play to win instead of playing not to lose.

That was Miles' philosophy.
playing not to lose.....no killer instinct
No need to run up scores, but no need to let inferior teams hang around either.

Lmaoooo, I thought I had seen it all on this sight. Buckeye Jeaux now trying to say Burrow has more arm talent then Trevor Lawerence who is deemed as possibly the best QB prospect ever, and who would have gone #1 overall after his freshman season. Dude looks like the most talented QB ever. I get it we all Love Burrow, but take off your glasses good lord.

Who did Clemson play again? One good team? I'm not impressed by inflated stats. What happened to the Heisman winner from Louisville when he played a real defense?

Agreed. Alabama is the one team not fricking us with refs. That goes to ucf, Auburn, Miami, and the worst officiated game in history, Texas anm.

gary crowton has confessed this in an interview i linked ages ago. miles liked to keep it close and pull it out in the 4th. that mentality can easily backfire and it did.

Scoring at least 3 points would help.
