We need a scheme that can move the ball. If Joe Brady has it, good. I know the Saints often don't have the best O Line talent-wise, but Payton knows how to move the ball.

LSU had the ball against Bama 3-4 times where 1 first down gets them into FG position, and couldn't get there. You get those early points, the team relaxes and it's a different game.

All that was known before '18. Wished our staff had seen it.

Dude get the fck out here. Lawrence is a better all around QB than Burrow and it isn’t even close right now.

The Saints had one of the best OL in the league last year before injuries.

O line does need to play better. Bama was able to get pressure on Burrow by just sending 3 or 4 guys last year. Have to make them blitz to get pressure in order to open holes in the passing lanes. If Bama can drop 7 and still force you to throw quick they will our athlete you all day and shut down any lane to throw to.

He needs to work on what fricks us every year, the refs. Will they have Delpit suspended for this year’s game? Or will it be the old “just let everyone commit holding so Hurts can score” song and dance? Oh I can’t wait!

He doesn't have the arm talent of Lawrence but we should have a good chance to break the streak

Neither did Deshaun Watson.

If JB throws a TD against Bama this year the Tiger offense would be a great improvement from last few years.

Maybe.. a lot of,it was the design of the LSU pass offense. Slow developing plays. Bama dominated our offensive line for the last several years only having to rush 4. Makes defending the back end much easier.. makes QB job much harder.

Anyway we have a QB and Skill players to challenge Bama. Probably at rough parity talent wise on Defensive line. No where near Bamas depth on DLine. Bama pushed our D line all over the place last year. Whatever. Can LSU defense hold up for 60 minutes. We did in 2010 2011 2012 2014.2016. Have not since then

Not anywhere close to parity on the offensive line of scrimmage and have not been. And Bama analysts had our play run/pass tendencies down to knowing almost every place

The RPO if real will neutralize some of the tendency advantage for Bama.

To win in Tuscaloosa you have to win by two touchdowns to win by a field goal. So there is that.

I stand corrected. Lawrence was .9999 second only to Young.

Yeah burrow held on to the ball courageously to try and give his receivers all the time possible. That said sometimes ya gotta know when to hold em and know when to fold em. In this new offense that process should be even more accelerated. We shall see

Regarding the rap being given Burrow for "holding on to ball too long":

He was green in this system last year
They didn't want him running much last year
Every game saw a new OL personnel group
He had some freshmen receivers also green on playbook

All these things will be advanced this year. Sky is limit. We need to catch a break from injury bug.

Don't believe Burrow is better than those two

This....I like Burrow...I just think the other two are on a different level....and a lot of that comes from being surrounded by a better supporting cast.

yep, and some years they don't. And yet regardless of who's there, they move the ball, and have for over a decade.

LSU has had one of the better OLs in college quite a few times, and have been stonewalled against Bama a whole lot.

My point in saying that was this: you don't have to blow the defensive line 5 yds off the ball to be able to drive. It's nice when you can, and LSU has often done that to many teams- but there will be games (Bama for example) where that won't happen.

The Saints are known as a screen team. Screen passes are a way to negate the defensive line; you force them to slow down if you run that effectively.
LSU has struggled with throwing the screens, but we have a QB that should be ok with that, and if Brady picked up anything from being with the Saints, he should have some sense as to when it would be a good time to run one.

Saban's teams are not immune to screens. I remember seeing them run effectively against him when here, and I've seen them against Alabama. You just have to pick your shots.
