For making sure that Neck was going to be removed permanently.

I hope the chances you had to use the phrase "Suck that Tiger Dick, Bitch" were really necessary for you to enjoy the moment.

They've been saying suck that tiger dick for a while now, and they still play it. If you notice, they only play it when red hat is on the field.

Yeah, and every time that is said, they pull it back.

They tried it earlier this year, and with a mild chant of suck that tiger dick they stopped playing it for a while.

They used to play neck after EVERY SINGLE TD/big game moment as part of the celebratory glow.

You think it was coincidence that they didn't play it again, specially with how loud it was this go round?

Even if they do play it again (I don't know if it has been formally stricken...but I do know it is riding the line close enough that it wouldn't be crazy to think it has), you are missing the point.

The point is that they pull back from playing it due to profanity. They have been doing this for ANY song since 2007. In fact, Neck was being used as a replacement for ANOTHER song they pulled out because of profanity.

It is REALLY needed? Are you morons really incapable of celebrating anything without cursing?

I am no Puritan, and I curse sometimes to specific events, but to make it a formal chant of it in SPITE of repeated attempts and requests by the admin to stop is just pathetic.

yeah it's really unusual for a gathering of college age students (18-21) to want to engage in harmless thumbing their nose at "authority" ...

who cares

I'm 50 y.o., had my run as a student, step aside and let the students do whatever the hell they want as long as they're not physically harming anyone.

Psst.

I am a student.

And:

So to recap:

frick traditions

We stuck it to the man and now we don't hear the songs we used to love!

We WIN! We sure showed them!

RIP Pre-game Tiger Rag

I love tradition, love the band playing versus piped in music garbage. If you're a student, lighten up a little bit and have some fun. You can't control the actions of 30,000 people -- some will be idiots, some morons, others good eggs. Sure, I hate to see people "represent" their university in an idiotic fashion -- but face it some people are good, others are jackasses (like the LSU "fans" who rocked the Auburn team bus outside of Tiger Stadium earlier this decade.) As long as fists/bottles aren't being thrown and pregnant women assaulted (i.e., SEE: West Virginia) .... oh well.

I graduated last year and couldn't agree more. I love neck, probably the best song I've heard any band play in a stadium to get you pumped. Its awesome to see 50,000 people waving their arms and the lyrics are actually pretty awesome for a football game. Its pretty retarded to me that we have to get these songs banned.

It seems more fun to me to just revel in the moment. But like other poster said, you can't win this fight. Just accept that your surrounded by morons and hope TGBFTL replaces it with another great song that evades this cycle for 3 seasons.

Tiger Stadium is not, and has never been (AFAIK) a G rated experience. It's R rated at least.

Alcohol, youthful exuberance, and passion for the Tigers = profanity and other potentially offensive behavior.

Man up, pipe down, or watch the games from home if you can't handle it.

FWIW -- I agree with your OP.

But, "welcome to the Rant" --- good luck.... too many idiots on this board to "win" that argument.

With anyone having half a functional brain your point is accurate..... keep the songs and celebrations... drop the profanity because it is NOT necessary and does in fact lead to the band NOT playing these songs.

Agreed.

Apparently we cannot seem to express pride in our team without a degree of vulgarity intermingled in song.

Nice.

Flame away and prove my point. It is your perceived anonymity that makes you think it is acceptable.
