If you haven't seen this, Brian Kelly has told John Emery to focus on getting his degree in the spring rather than participating in spring football.

What a smart move by BK. The biggest problem with John Emery has been his availability. Most of his absences have been as a result of grades. His ability has never been questioned.

If JE follows through and gets his degree, he'll be able to focus solely on football come fall. Doing so will likely help him increase his draft status and really help LSU's offense in 2023.

It was a really well thought out move by BK.

Why do you always insist on being a douche? Regardless of how it turns out, what you expect doesn’t have a baring on it.

He’ll then enrolled in grad school.

And his fumbles. Or we just forgetting about those

I mean I love BK, but if he doesn’t focus on school he’ll probably be ineligible again. That’s what I gathered from it.

So you’re saying JE was not academically ineligible, just that CBK told him to skip Spring practice and concentrate on graduating.

Well it makes sense if JE can graduate in Spring 2023. But if that happens, wouldn’t he have to be enrolled in graduate school next Fall?

I think you need so many hours to remain eligible
He must have really screwed up with that lost covid year
It’s not about graduating for him since he will be here in the fall anyway, it’s making sure he is staying on progress and if he can graduate in may as a result than that’s a bonus

Some people just don’t live up to their high school rankings, that’s John Emory. He wasn’t the first and he won’t be the last.

I recall there was some discussion that his academic ineligibility came from not having enough qualified course hours rather than failing classes or GPA issues. But I never saw any verification of that.

He could start on one of those football grad courses they offer and it would probably make it a lot easier on him time load wise.

I really think BK means it when he says his goal is to graduate winners, I think he values the educational opportunities offered these kids more than many coaches. That might come from all those years in D2.

4 fumbles, 4 lost.

1 -UNM
1 - Auburn
2 - UAB

Not forgetting. He needs to do better. Note that he did not put the ball on the ground vs SEC teams except for one vs Auburn.

Great move by Bryan Kelley. This is why I wanted us to hire him over Reilly, Nappier, Fischer, etc.

I like Emery. As far as I know he's been a team player. It's important in life's road that John get his education. Kelly is looking out for both his team and his RB.

Given that this thread is a topic of opinion and the fact that he stated his opinion, the only person attacking him and coming off as a douche is you.

And FWIW, Emery needs those snaps in the spring if he wants to truly compete. To me this was the only play available by Brian Kelly (as it pertains to Emery). At this point the best we could probably hope for with him is a rotational back that gets better as the season goes on. At worst he has zero impact but at least he'll have a degree.

Nothing against the young man, I hope he succeeds at everything in life, but my expectations for him in his final year are minimal as well.

Emery needs to sign up exclusively for online classes and pay someone to do his shite.

Problem solved.

I think 9 hours of grad school is equal to 12 hours of undergrad as far as full time status. One of the comments about JB in 2019 was that as a grad student he had so much more time to spend in the film room and he was pretty much on an NFL QB schedule when it came to football.
