Because they fired Wade, LSU is NOT going to get hit with major sanctions. So that excuse, while it shouldn't exist at all, is going to soon fall by the wayside.

If that’s the case it makes this hire even worse. If SW knew that would avoid sanctions, he should have communicated it to any interested basketball coach candidates and made a big time hire.

With regards to sanctions, no.

Are you THAT STUPID? You said “the threat to sanctions hanging over his head.” The current coach came in AFTER Miller and won the pac 12. Threat for sanctions is NOTHING nowadays.

This was and will ALWAYS be about “institutional control” because of FOOTBALL with Miles. Scott was worried about that revenue source and not basketball.

McMahon was one of the 2 “hot coaching” hires from last year because of his teams at Murray St.

I’m good with the hire and giving him time. BUT this is not looking great because of who he brought with him AND the returning players.

Not being competitive has been and will continue to be my concern. I’ve been attending LSU games before Dale Brown came so I get it.

And like most Wade fanboys you don't know basketball.

Was a season ticket holder from the early 80’s to early 90’s while I lived there.

This has been frustrating from the lack of effort.

Great point

Whatever Bruce Pearl did his early years at Auburn is unrelated to LSU's current plight. You have a team in disarray and a head coach who seems disinterested. What's worse is the attitute: a culture of losing has set in, and no one sees anything wrong with it.

It is to note that even highly rated coaches can struggle until they recruit enough good players and Pearl had three losing years before it turned around. Only people like you think an attitude of losing has set in. The team is playing hard even if results are not always good. They are undermanned at present, sometimes by a small amount like Auburn, A& M and Florida. Against BAMA they were dominated by Brandon Miller. The rest of the team shot about 30% from the field and 3 point land which was about what LSU shot. That indicates defensively they were playing hard and one super player was the major difference.

In a way I agree, but prior to Pearl Auburn had 8 NCAAT appearances ALL TIME. We would have made the NCAAT six of the last ten if 2020 was played.

He brought back a guy who would’ve started last year in Miller and Wilkinson returned who shot over 40% from the three and has been a good defensive player from a team that won a whole bunch of games. Then he brings in a likely all American and the MVP of their team and league for a Murray State team that won 31 games plus another starter plus a reserve that played quite a few minutes for them. There’s only five players on the court at one time you tool. If you have a 7 to 8 man deep roster, you can compete and lose by less than 20 points a game against people like Florida.

He brought in a top 20 class to boot. This is simply about effort.
I was hoping for 17 wins, which I believe would be a great start. It’s not about winning as much as it has been, about how they have been losing.
