I am 46 - I don't understand the appeal

Is this an older generation thing?

The first football game LSU ever played was against Tulane. I think we should play them every year just never in their tiny stadium.

And, yes, I am old. :-)

I'd much prefer playing Tulane annually at the end of the year with the occasional game at the Dome (every three years, or so) over hosting random directional schools like Western Kentucky and/or Troy.

First, I'm old, but this is not the issue.
Re the CFP gang picking teams, I think they will give LSU a pass playing an AAC Tulane as an in state rival vs. Western Kentucky or Troy on Thanksgiving weekend. I think we win both games, but beating Tulane won't "hurt" us.

Will never happened Tulane AD wants a standard home & home meaning 1 for 1. LSU would only agree to play at tiger stadium makes, makes no sense giving up a home game just to play at a 30k capacity stadium instate. when everyone knows that, there won’t be that many Tulane fans at the game at their campus stadium. LSU will also only agree to play at the super dome, if LSU can can control the ticket sales and split, which would most likely be between 85% LSU 15% Tulane or 70 % LSU 30% Tulane. Last time LSU played a G5 at a neutral site was 2017 vs BYU, LSU was paid $4 million and BYU was paid $2 million. So what’s the point of paying Tulane 20% to 30% around $2.5 million to $3 million, when LSU can just host Tulane at tiger stadium for $1.6 million guaranteed.

The only way you play Tulane is the way we play other in-state teams. Always at Tiger Stadium and on a rotating basic with the other state schools.
Never at their stadium. Its a lose lose for us to play every year with a home and home.

I posted this in another thread. LSU has played Tulane 98 times. Thats more than most other SEC teams. It was always a great end of year game.

Yes, I absolutely think LSU should play Tulane instead of Western Kentucky! LSU should never play the Western Kentucky's or the South Alabama's of the world. Play the state schools.

But like others have said, it has to be AT Tiger Stadium, not a home and home.

I agree - I’m even okay with a home and away if we get rid of our stupid arse week 1 home and away series- play them in the dome or tiger stadium - we used to play them at Tulane Stadium and those were the biggest crowds in tiger history until Tiger Stadium was expanded - and play them on rivalry weekend and spank that arse and rest up for the SEC championship game!

Okay, I'm in. Just make the ticket costs 3.50 times higher than what they'd be at Tiger Stadium. I can guar-awn-TEE that if Tulane is halfway decent, since LSU is the opponent there will be that many Tulane fans willing to pay the jacked-up price for the tickets. Similar to what happened way back in 1973 when Tulane alumni bought all the tickets.

Why not, they’ve filled it for other games

Chalmation: "filled it for other games"!!!!!!
Have you looked at the stands when the greenies play?
Unless the other guys bring 10 to 15K like Ole Miss or ULaLa, that stadium is not even close to being half filled!
