Can’t wait to see this place if they lose an early SEC series

matter is statistically speaking, NOBODY cares about college baseball. It's a niche sport, kinda like John's Hopkins lacrosse and Pepperdine water polo. Only football and men's basketball move the needle and bring a college national recognition. That may not sit well with you, but it's the truth.
Do you have any idea how much money schools are investing in baseball stadiums and facilities now?
Must be one hell of a niche lol

Even less people give a shite about college basketball
I guess that's why March Madness pales in comparison to the NCAA Baseball Tournament as far as revenue, sponsors, and viewers.

Stole my thunder. After LSU has 3 or 4 wins in the SEC after the first three series, this board will be in meltdown mode calling for Jay's head.

I sincerely hope you are being intentionally obtuse, and aren't just stupid. The investment in college baseball IS NOT EVEN CLOSE to the investment in men's basketball, and even moreso in college football. Wow!!

Do you choose which sports you enjoy watching based on popularity?
You must be a huge soccer fan then. It’s the most popular sport in the world, you know.

The fact that you consider yourself an LSU “fan” is one thing, the fact that you compare College baseball on a whole to college lacrosse and college water polo is another, and then you put the stupid cherry on top by actually calling it a niche sport, your logic is laughable at best.
Educate yourself
“Entering Saturday’s Game 1 of the College World Series Final, the men’s College World Series was averaging 1.04 million viewers across the ESPN family of networks — up 17% from last year. That includes an audience of 1.35 million for Mississippi-Arkansas on Wednesday, the largest for the men’s CWS prior to the Final since 2018 (Oregon State-Mississippi State: 1.57M).”
Education part deaux
“NCAA men’s lacrosse final hits high
The Virginia-Maryland NCAA men’s lacrosse national championship averaged 399,000 viewers on ESPN2 Memorial Day, up 35% from the last time it was held in 2019 (Virginia-Yale: 296K) and the largest audience for the event since 2017. Semifinal games averaged 284,000 (+39%), the largest audience since 2013.”
same article… “niche” pro hockey opening round playoffs from same year (2021) as Lacrosse numbers, average roughly 400k less per game than CWS:
“The opening round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs averaged 642,000 viewers on the NBC Sports family of networks, per Sports Business Journal, up from 6% from last year’s months-delayed late summer postseason (605K) but the second-smallest opening round figure since 2013.”

Money, Bill F had me believing this baseball program was winning a title last year. It looked believable the first 7 or 8 games and then it sputtered.
I want to drink the kook aid again but I can’t pull the trigger.

And college baseball is still MILES BEHIND men's basketball, and football. It's the tallest midget. Congrats.
There are only 2 sports that bring wide spread acclaim to schools that are successful in them, and college baseball isn't one of them, and it NEVER will be.
You won't admit this or answer this honestly, but you know damn well you would trade EVERY WIN in the history of the MEANINGLESS LSU baseball program for a win over Alabama in the national championship game in 2012.

Not getting my hopes up at all- might not even watch many games this season. Completely deflated after not standing behind the General. This is coming from someone who went to most home games last year.
I miss the General too. But give McMahon a chance and I'll bet he wins you over too.

I was A senior in 2011 and that championship would have meant a lot to me, but we have 4 NCs I’m not trading 6 CWS for a 5th.

After reading this thread I believe you are legitimately the dumbest poster on this board.
The responses you’ve gotten in this thread should tell you that you might reconsider your position on this but you just double down on being a dumbass. It’s truly incredible.

Because it's obvious that we got outpitched down the stretch last year.
Jay specifically tried to address the pitching, bringing in Hurd, Skenes, Little, and a host of other new faces that can upgrade the staff immediately. We'll see how it plays out.
He also had the infield defense addressed until Pineda and Young signed. And, he got Nippolt in. Defense will still be something to watch. I don't love our infield defensively, aside from Tre. But, an improved pitching staff and continued offense will help to alleviate some of that pain.

Hey, I don't give 2 fricks who don't like baseball. I've been waiting for this year since the last game at USM. If LSU stays healthy this is going to be an awesome year!

Some things are obvious and don’t need a response.
Yes, pitching wasn’t the best. We could play the IF game from any direction though. If my aunt had balls she’d be my uncle.

I’m a 470 mile drive from campus & I love college baseball.
