In 2022, LSU went to the SEC championship game, in 2024 there's virtually no path for that.

In 2022 LSU had significant wins against Ole Miss and Alabama and their worst loss was against Florida State from a opponent strength standpoint.

In 2024, LSU has only beaten Ole Miss as far as impressive victory and their losses are terrible. They lost to a USC team that almost has a losing record. They got thumped by Texas A&M in the second half and suffered one of the largest blowouts in their history to Alabama at home.

Trailed the entire game, not even impressive.

No massive differences

Just because of divisions mostly and the opponents they beat, LSU has 2 SEC losses and an OOC loss so far this year, same as 2022.

2022 Ole Miss went 8-5 that year, South Carolina will likely do that or better this year.

I disagree on the worst loss in 2022, it was 5-7 A&M.

LSU took a blowout home loss to Bama this year, took one to Tennessee in 2022, nearly by the same score.

The score of the A&M game was actually exactly the same in 2022 as 2024.

Maybe they haven't improved but I don't think they've taken a step back either (yet). In fact, it's been a very similar year.

There's actually quite a few paths, and none of them all that crazy given how chaotic college football has been, this year.

The most favorable path:

LSU finishes in 2nd here no matter what happens in Texas-A&M game.

He should have tried to shore up the defense through the portal for JD’s second year , if he thought he had a real natty run .

There should be a portal for coaches … like a Black Hole … and he should hit it !

This was the MOST “not ok” home game in my 40+ years on planet earth.

I’m not sure how he bounces back from this. It’s really just inexplicable given talent levels of both teams.

My employer probably would’ve fired me if my performance had gotten worse each year after three years.

Time will tell but his reluctance to use the portal certainly is a factor.

You gotta go to the portal to add an experience wr to pair with the young room, add an experienced impactful interior d-lineman, and add a safety in the portal who has sec athleticism.

We need OL more than anything else for next year. DJ Chester will be our best OL next year. Think about that.

Our entire receiver group came from the portal.

Is this fanbase actually retarded?

Bama is drastically more talented than LSU.

He told us to judge him on year 3. I’m just doing what the man asked.
And ima tell you what, what I’ve seen the last 2 games is DISGUSTING.
What I saw on the field looked like weak, soft, passionless football.. and it looked like Brian Kelly quit on his players. In Kyle Field AND Tiger Stadium Brian Kelly stood on the sideline looking lost, defeated and weak.
And the team mirrored that.

They’re drastically more talented than Vanderbilt too.
One of the most important factors in the sport of football is PASSION.
With enough heart, grit, and passion, lack of talent can be disguised.

I understand the lack of talent.
What concerns me is the apparent lack of heart and passion and brotherhood on this team.

Fans read too much into appearances.

Kelly always looks like this, even when they win.

Jay Johnson gets criticized for his dugout presence a lot too.

How has he went backwards?

Ole Miss dropped 2 TDs and Sellers got hurt to end the first half of the USCe game.

LSU has a winning record by the opponents losing, not them outplaying them.

I agree with the talent issues on defense. We need the best players in the country for the front 7. The game is won in the trenches at the end of the day. I believe we have some good coaches.

It's not the losses, it's how we are losing.
