No, they allow a team to basically have 2 more weeks of practice. In this age of limited practice that is huge.
The problem is everyone gets a trophy these days, what are there now? 40 bowls.

You are serious?
raise your hand if you think LSU had a full roster this year.

To a certain subset of fans. To coaches and returning players, it is a gift from the NCAA that allows them extra practice to begin preparing for next year. To fans who can't get enough of college football, it's one last chance to watch their team play, even if it is not at full strength.

Been saying this, nobody cares outside the playoff games. The only people bowl games benefit is the depth on the team getting them extra game reps

I agree only the playoffs are relevant, especially going to 12.
But look at the other bowls as an extra regular season game against a new opponent with the aforementioned extra practice time.
There’s something to be said for that.

Plus I know the players get gifts and things from the bowls so that’s a plus.
I realize not a big as a deal with the NIL stuff, but getting a PS5 or like gaming system would be a big deal to undergrad me from years past.

Bowl games aren't any less meaningless than they always have been. Unless the bowl game you are playing in has/had national championship implications your game is/was in essence meaningless.

With as many bowl games out there, you could have had the college football playoff assign each one a game in the playoff, and still have room for ULL’s of college football.

Daniels shouldn’t be starting unless 100% healthy IMO

Signing class was 15 and we brought in 11-12 transfers.
I don’t have the exact rosters numbers but our total, entering the fall, was 72-75 scholarship players; and we have 8-10 guys out for the year with injuries.
We were still an entire recruiting class behind everyone else this year, numbers-wise. Thank Ed O for that.

Haha!
Monday games as we start the new year are stupid.
I’ll be back in the office and likely won’t even watch other than to have it on in the background.

No point in even playing them unless you make the CFP

Have college football fans gotten so pretentious that they hate watching more football games? I will never understand why people get mad for being able to watch more football games. If you think they are meaningless then gamble on them that will make them mean something.

They used to name NCs before the bowl games. They were always meaningless beyond one more game.
Playing football/sports used to be its own justification. They played because they liked to play and compete.
Now there is this transactional layer over everything.

Nuss gone
Bech gone
Boutte opting out
Other than our 2 freshman tackles, nobody wants anybody else

Even if JD is 100% Nuss deserves to play 2 quarters in a real game to see if he's ready to be QB 1 for 2023. His performance in Georgia game says he's the better qb with these receivers than JD. Boutte would have had a 1000 yd season with Nuss, just so u know. Right Les?

The fact that we don’t have guys rushing out to the portal is a win already. Yes we’ll have transfers but they will go through the process of finding out where they stand and make an informed decision. Can’t knock them for that.
