Maybe it’s not 3 seconds and maybe there’s not a review maybe it’s a rush on the field after a first down with 5 seconds. Clock starts on the ref.

You willing to say let it slide?

that is what kelly was pissed about
situational awareness
teams practice this kind of situational stuff all the time to be prepared

I really don’t get the frustration about Kelly for THIS situation.

Kickers need to sack up. The notion that they are too fragile to be chewed out for doing stupid stuff is ridiculous.

Also the whole point of these games is to get game reps. What better way to get a practice scenarios for a big last second SEC kick?

Ramos needs to get his head in the game.

BK ran half way on the field to let him know to be ready, that the clock started on the ref. Ramos went thru his prekick ritual 3x and instead of just standing there waiting for the snap, he went back to the ball to do the ritual again.

BK had every right to yell at him. That was unacceptable.

ETA: if you go watch Ramos during that entire sequence, it will infuriate you as to how stupid he was.

It’s surprising how many are completely missing the point. That was the most animated I have seen him with a player this season. There were other players that deserved to get chewed out, including the one that put them in that position in the first place.

To answer your question, kickers miss FGs. It happens. Hopefully in your imaginary scenario, the QB didn’t make such a bad play to put him on the hash with a live clock.

Again, if this were to happen again, Kelly would get the blame, just like he deserves to now. He was embarrassed that his team was barely beating a rent a win home game, and he took it out on the kicker. That wasn’t a teaching moment, it was a fit of rage from someone that wasn’t in control.

I’ve always had the same stance on Kelly being a mediocre coach. But clearly you missed the point. Chewing out players because you mismanaged the clock is clown behavior. I have no problem with chewing out players for boneheaded mistakes. Just take a little time and really think before you respond

Are you familiar with the phenomenon of Dunning-Krueger ? If not, you should google it.

Also, there has to be more than 3 seconds on the clock to spike the ball after A CLOCK STOPPAGE, WHICH WAS THE EXACT SCENARIO. Kelly absolutely made the correct call on that play, and you are in fact, a fricking moron.

Please though, carry on calling other people stupid, when in fact you're the dumbass. This fanbase neve3r ceases to amaze me with the breathtakingly stupid takes. Never change rant.

What a wuss take….playing the double standard game because you don’t like BK, which is fine—just admit that and not try to search for an event to squeeze into your narrative.

Sorry, but you’re a complete and total pussy and moron if the coaches yelling at players is offensive to you.

bullshite. Kelly doesn't yell at him if he makes it.
Kelly publicly will always find a way to show someone else is to blame...other than his own shortcomings

Nobody “decided” to run the ball with Collins. He was trying to make a play and failed.

Perhaps rather than trying to reach the sideline he would have been better served throwing the ball away. Just a thought.

You had 3 seconds. You spike the ball. Never rush a kicker. Kelly knew he messed up and needed to give blame. He looks silly every game and it’s getting worse.

I don’t understand why some of you aren’t getting this- the clock had 3 seconds but the clock started on the refs signal. You can only spike the ball if there’s 3 seconds AT THE SNAP.

Would you trust last night’s officiating crew to not screw us? If they said Collins got the snap with less than 3 seconds, they throw a flag and the half is over with no FG attempt.

If there had been 4 or more seconds on the clock, I would agree with those saying to spike it, but trying it with 3 would have risked any chance for points at all.

Ramos should have been set and ready instead of fricking around, but the real fault for all of this is obvious- Ricky Collins should have thrown the ball away. Then we maybe get to run one more play before kicking the FG. Thankfully this is the kind of game where you can get away with this, but he has to learn from that for the future.

WTF? They don't ever raise the ball over their heads before spiking the ball to stop the clock.

Idiot. Collins made that call himself after he decided the route he was looking for wasn’t open. He’s a backup. He’s not going to be making 3 reads with time running out.

He’s used to beating guys in HS whenever he needed to get yards. Nichols may be an FCS team, but they are still a long way from HS. He made a mistake not throwing it away. It is what it is. It didn’t cost us the game. He just needs to learn to not do that again.

Geez people are still posting moroic emotional takes. I know you will skim over anything against your narrative so placing the actual situation recap as a reply to you. Please read.

By rule, you cannot spike the ball. That is an automatic 3 second run off.

This is categorically false. Nutria posted the actual rule.

Spike it as soon as the whistle blows and there will be :01 left.

You people are truly idiots caught up by your own ignorance. In your scenario, literally every small minute detail would have to go perfectly for that to work out. Kelly made the right call. In fact, he ran out past the numbers on the field yelling instructions as to what to do once the whistle is blown. Ramos either didn’t listen or didn’t comprehend. Kelly was 100% in the right to get in Ramos’ arse about it. He had just told Ramos to be ready to go at the blow of the whistle. How do yall not understand this?

It's insane at this point.

3 seconds can absolutely run off during a spike, I saw it happen Saturday.
