What a smart man to know that if you have a house 1 mile from campus you can host not only official but unofficial recruits at your house. I never knew that but the man knows what he is doing!

There’s a ton of really nice houses close to campus.

If you have an apartment above Voodoo BBQ, you can host blonde recruiting coordinators.

Smart man but hopefully he has an armed brigade so he doesn't get shot and stabbed

I’m probably just not in the know, but why would the proximity of your house to campus determine what visitors you can host at your home?

I know the exact house he bought because I use to live down the street from it. It’s on the other side of the lakes so still not lsu campus.

Can someone explain?

I didn't even know that was a rule. Makes you wonder why Les Miles and O didn't have a house within 1 mile of campus then.

He bought one of the houses on Lakeshore. It's on one of the peninsulas. You pretty much can see into the house from three sides. Not very private at all.

NCAA rules allow you to host unofficial visits at your home within a mile of campus.

Well you see, they weren’t the smartest people in the world. One ate too much grass and the other had too much Ray Baker. From what I understand if you live more than a mile away, you can’t host recruits at your house. With Brian Kelly living in that mile radius from campus, if Arch Manning came by for an unofficial visit, he can hang out at Brian Kelly’s house and spend more time with the coach. In Les Miles and coach O’s case, they were not allowed to do that. This is all about recruiting. For him to understand that rule and use it to his advantage, just shows me how smart he is.

Is it a house that’s separate from the one he lives in ? Or is that big house he bought less than a mile from campus?

It’s his personal home he bought on the lakes.

I hope this house doesn’t lead to double secret probation. The athletic department is gonna need a no toga party rule.

It’s smart and this type of visit means a lot to kids.
It makes it more personal rather than some sterile restaurant or facility.

I wonder what the rules are on assistant coaches and this 1 mile rule? It is possible on the past other coaches were within one mile. Also are our coaches in other sports doing this and aware? It should be part of their contracts.

Great for Coach Kelly. No doubt he sacrificed a bit of privacy for that recruiting advantage. He obviously could afford to build or buy the biggest mansion in town in the Highland area, but he no doubt had the “unofficial visits” in mind when he bought that house on the lakes.
