bullshite.. he was left with zero defensive talent. Where were all the 1st round draft picks on defense the last 2 years. I still don't understand how some lsu fans can't see how bad O left lsu. There is a reason all our defensive stars were young.
What?
He had two DTs who were selected in the NFL draft. One (Smith) so highly regarded that he was taken in the 2nd round despite doing nothing at LSU. He returned a guy (Perkins) was was preseason all SEC and EVERYONE, nationwide, felt would be one of the best defensive players in the nation. Savion Jones was a very good player in 2021 and 2022. He brought in a all conference transfer LB (Speights) who is now good enough to be a projected starter for the LA Rams. What's the outlier there? Great at Oregon St and good enough to start in the NFL, yet awful only on one particular team.
Did LSU have enough talent overall to be a top 10, 20 defense? No. But they had MORE than enough to be a top 40-50 defense (unless you think teams like Mississippi St, Illinois, Arizona, etc had more talent than LSU). And that would have been enough to make LSU a CFP team.
Sorry, it was an all-time choke job. Right up there with Lou Tepper derailing a (preseason) top 10 team in 1998. The overall approach that House implemented was terrible from start to finish. Blaming it on Orgeron is ridiculous. BK overachieved in Year 1. He gets credit for that. He blew what could have been a championship team in year 2. He owns that as well

I honestly believe that year 5-6 we when a Natty
If BK doesn't win a NC by year 6 he never will. The dude has more regular season wins than any coach ever and hasn't finished the job ever! Time will tell but I'm not hopeful!

he lost 4 games 3 in reg season and the bowl game.
None of this is correct. Saban won an NC in 2003, his fourth season at LSU. In 2004, he went 9-2 in the regular season, 9-3 with the bowl game loss to Iowa.

BK seems good for at least 1 or 2 games every year where the team is just not prepared to step on the field to start the game.

Year 1 and 2 I never put that much stock into with a new coach unless the whole operation looks like a disaster. Year 3 no more excuses though
I know I’ll get crucified for saying this, but I mean, even if he does drop the game Sunday night that’s not the end of the story for this team.. people better not get too hung up on the outcome of Sundays game, good or bad. It’s a long season. If they get hot at the right time (without losing too many games) they can sneak into the playoffs and then who knows what could happen

Exactly. it's the first game.

I don’t think you respect the difficulty in winning a national championship.
He will probably field a team that is championship level by year 5 or 6.
But it’s less likely that he won one than vice versa even if he does that.

Agreed. He could go 8-4 this year & be fine, but his seat would be hot going to year 4
He would be fine. He is fixed for life.
How about you?
IMO. it would be a serious F up, after all the hype.

Sheet, I heard Will Campbell say LSU knows it is time to win game 1 to get off to a good start. Leadership on this team may be much better than last season plus added some high level coaching. Too many negatigers out and about this Friday. Geaux Tigers!!!

Of course not, but it doesn't bode well for a head coach whose biggest criticism in that he has a very poor record against good teams. But yeah, if LSU makes the playoff the USC loss would be quickly forgotten.

To me his year 3 would've looked a whole lot different if he didn't have to change the entire defensive staff.
They have a freshman and true freshman in the top 3 corners.
To me the entire year rides on the defense.

Year 3 has usually been "his" year.
What significant accomplishments has he achieved in year 3?

in the case of this year, 10 million dollars richer

Which is just so weird. The guy is clearly a better coach than Les or O. It would be wild if BK can’t get it done here.
He may be.
He has yet to win a Natty after a lifetime of coaching.
Will you still have that opinion if Notre Dame finishes the season ranked higher than LSU?
Just curious.

he gets a lot more slack than he should, imo, he just doesn't seem to have the "it" factor, impressive stats over his career but nothing to show for it but a huge contract, not a negatiger, and I really am not emotionally vested in this but, imo, if he wins an NC here it will be because of La "natural resources" more than his elite coaching ability, just my $.02

Arrogant , me first attitude , recruiting motto of we’re LSU and I’m BK you should recruit me to play here . Already resting on his laurels as if he accomplished what Saban has
This is hilarious. Literally none of this shite is even close to accurate, WTF?

He still has to rebuild this defense. That’ll take a class or two. Calm down.
Needing another class or two is on Kelly. Im pleased with what he has done here overall, but that defense took a big step backwards last year and that's on him. He put too much trust in House and didn't fill the D-Line job which cost us; By doing so, we are back to year 1 defensively talent wise. That doesn't give him a pass.

ND sure is not missing BK right now.
