re: Bret Bielema recognizes something key that Les Miles simply doesn't.

I'm not 5 and I recognize that Miles has ran a very similar offense under a multitude of coordinators.
You do realize the NFL teams Cam OC'd passed more than 10 times in a half right? Even with good running backs such as Ray Rice.
Miles' offense is Miles' offense and LSU could have Sean Payton as OC and they'd still run the same shite.

He also beat LSU 17-0 by using Tight Ends - something that escapes MIles! How can a coach witness this and turn a blind eye. The TE's at Ark caught a bushel basket full of passes and Ole Miss had no answer last week. Of course, Ole Miss caught a ton for a lot of yards, too. LSU has SEVEN TE on the roster. Yes, they are involved in the run game but EVERY other team in the USA uses them as receivers, too. DeSean Smith had 5 catches against ND and was very effective. OOOPs - that worked too well so let's drop that philosophy. Cameron was known for using the TE in the NFL so it MUST be Miles which is prerogative, but WHY? To me, Miles can develop his game plan for Ole Miss and Ark by watching the game between them last week. BUT. Miles wants to pound the line until it is too late. I love a good running game but if it is stopped why not do something different?

I agree with the Les PTSD comment from 2008.

dan enos makes brandon allen look good. that is amazing.
I don't place that on Enos. Brandon Allen has statically improved in every category every single year.
Every year he has improved his yards per pass, his TDs per pass, his ints per pass, his TD/int ratio, and his completion percentage.
I remember people laughing when I brought up Allen's yearly improvements on here. Allen is going to finish the regular season with at least 3000 yards passing, at least 60% cmp, at least 8.5 ypa, and at least 27 passing TDs.

I don't think Jennings got any better from the Wisconsin game to the notre Dame game. In fact I think you could argue he got worse.
No knowledgeable football observer would agree with you. Jennings got better after the Auburn game. It was evidenced by the increase in usable playbook. We would have been destroyed by Bama last year if September AJ was playing. He did a lot of things against Bama that kept us in the game.
The Arky game is what most of your ilk point to. We lost a lineman from a thin group, and we were at the mercy of the Arky front seven. No way you can evaluate the QB or RBs under those circumstances.

Yeah, I have a good friend from Baltimore who knows football, went to LSU and cheers for the ravens, and warned me about the hire from day one.
...And yet 3 years later, Baltimore is on their 2nd offensive coordinator.
And Flacco's numbers 10 TDs 8 Ints 2,176 yards so far.
This is just to point out how the change has not really made a significant impact on better performance.

Yep, Flacco has probably had just one good year as an individual after Cameron left.

like Harris and think he's capable, but B Allen is the type of qb Miles should have been recruiting through the years for his schem
He has recruited guys like that, just never got them (Kiel, Rudolph, Bridgewater). Also, this is hilarious! I've seen people talk down all offseason on Tiger Rant about Brandon Allen, now they want to hype him up. Brandon Allen has improved every year, but his first year starting wasn't near as good as Harris's first year right now.
Harris will improve over time, but people need to got damn have patience.

Harris will be fine. Brandon Allen is a 5th year senior. Harris came from a shotgun only based offense. His progression is coming.

It's not that Miles calls the plays or designes the offense, but what he does do is seek out OC's that think like he does and he found one in Cam Cameron. They came in in agreement when Cam was hired that this is the style and scheme they wanted to run and that is exactly what they are doing.
Whether Cam knows how or is willing to utilize spread elements in his offense remains to be seen. The spread elements they have put in fuction like an old 8 cylinder engine with a couple dead cylinders. (still beats that old 4 banger I formation power run impose the will crap)

This reminds me of something I heard the broadcaster say during the Mississippi St/Ark. game last season. The MSU DC was asked about facing Arkansas' power running game and what effect the earlier success MSU had against LSU would have on their ability to stop Ark. The MSU DC stated that it's not overly difficult to prepare for LSU's offense. You know what's coming, it's just a matter of can your guys stop it. As to Arkansas, he said that you knew they were going to rely on a power running game, but it was more difficult to prepare for them because they ran the ball out of many different formations, used counters and misdirection, etc.
Everyone in the league knows what LSU is going to do on offense. They rarely fool anyone. LSU (as a whole) just generally has better athletes than most of the league. Alabama is not included in that group. History has shown that LSU can't just use the status quo to beat them. The best the LSU offense has looked in the last 6 games against Alabama was the 2nd half of 2012. LSU fell behind 14-3 and had no choice but to put the game in the hands of a (until that point in the season) ineffective Zack Mettenberger. What happened was that Mettenberger shredded Alabama's defense for 200+ yards in the second half and put LSU in a position to win. Then, facing a 3 and 10 in Alabama territory, with them out of timeouts, Les took the game out of his QB's hands and played for a 40+ yard FG that was missed. You know how that one ended.
The bottom line is that while the usual gameplan is effective against most of the SEC, LSU has to plan differently for Alabama. Les is afraid to come out of his comfort zone until he is absolutely forced to. Hell, it was 10-0 last week before he stuck Harris in the shotgun (where he's always looked more comfortable) Not surprisingly, the offense started to roll.

So Arkansas switched to a "Spread Power" team. So that explains the 5-4 record and giving up almost 30 points a game. Three weeks ago before multiple OT wins and a cupcake game people wanted Bielema gone. Now idiots are saying how he's a genius. Mainly looking for any excuse to bash the LSU coaches.

2013 offense was boat loads of fun but i think we all see now that was thanks to amazing personnel.
I'd always get blasted on here for saying it, but 2013 offense underachieved. With the success those skill players are having in the NFL, that offense should've been better. It still shite the bed against Bama, and when is the skill personnel ever going to be better than those guys?

I'm not touring Allen for the O'Brien award. Just saying he has gotten to be solid. I actually spent a lot of time defending Harris this year and especially Saturday night. I just have never understood recruiting a quarterback with wheels when they're not gonna be utilized.

Wrong. It would still be controlled and ran exactly how Miles wants it to be ran. Period.
