the guy who broke all Favre’s high school records? Right, gotcha.

He broke Dylan Favre’s records, not Brett’s. Brett’s team, coached by his dad, ran a Wing-T in HS. It’s a big reason he didn’t get many looks. Dylan, who lead Stanislaus to its only football state championship, is Brett’s nephew.

This is hilarious.

Parish hasn't done anything for me to believe he would overtake Brennan as of now.

brennan is the best passer on the team. he looks like he was born to throw a football.

that said, we will find out if he can actually play qb. joe doesn't have the nicest looking release and only has an average arm, but can play the shite outta the qb position.

if i had to put money on it, i'd say brennan will make parrish look like a guy who mostly ran the ball in high school, much like he made narcisse look.

I mean if you look at a lot of the better offenses, they aren't led by juniors and seniors that patiently sat behind someone before getting their first starts.

The day of QBs waiting at a school for 3-4 years to play is quickly coming to an end. If they do these days it's usually because they transferred.

All you who say LSU didn't "develop" QBs in the past. Well, first of all those coaches are gone. Les Miles and Cam Cameron were responsible for the QBs.

Well E was hire under Miles. Not QB coach mind you, but hard to believe he was this Mastermind QB coach and miles just missed it. Although I guess it's possible.

quote:

Second, LSU had a couple of BAD QBs in Jordan Jefferson and the absolutely horrible Brandon Harris. Both were in fact NOT SEC quality and LSU won in spite of them not because of them. You can't develop what isn't there.

Over a 10+ year span it's hard to say all QBs that came through here less Mett and Flynn were just bad.

quote:

The point is bad recruiting at QB caused the problems at QB. It wasn't lack of QB development because the QB talent wasn't there to begin with.

Sorry I disagree here. Go look at JJs recruiting stats vs Parrish on 247. They are very similar in composite score and Jefferson was more highly ranked in terms of national ranking and state ranking. How is it that JJ sucked but Parrish will now be the answer? If no one develops these guys to play the game at a higher level expect more of the same at QB.

quote:

It seems that Matt Flynn and Mettenberger did OK.

Sure. Flynn was coached by Jimbo and Mett already had experience before coming here.

We need to credit Orgeron for acknowledging that he needed a QB and he went and got Burrow.

Yeah I think we all do. I think the big concern is will we ever recruit a highly rated QB out of HS and truly develop him. That's where LSU has been failing imo.

Top programs recruit top guys.

They tend to play early and leave early.

But Oklahoma state has a senior QB who waited to start

correct. Sure, waiting in line and then starting as a Jr or Sr does happen, but usually if a QB has "it" he shows it almost immediately. There's a whole laundry list of freshmen QBs around the country that play immediately, and play very, very well.

Hell, just look at last year's NC game. Second half, it was true freshmen QBs for both teams. And Tua replaced a sophomore QB who also started as a freshman and led his team to the NC game.

The longer a young QB gets pushed out of the starting role, the lower odds he'll step up as an upperclassman. Sure, it happens, but usually, if a QB is the real thing, he plays immediately.

Thanks for the correction. Doesn't diminish the fact that he is still ranked nationally among high school quarterbacks in several major categories:

Career passing yardage (5th)
Season passing yardage (5th)
Career passing touchdowns (10th)

I really don’t think Brennan will ever start for LSU.

If he's still here (which I don't see why he wouldn't be) I think he will. It's not bad in every case, but something I have no faith in this staff doing is putting less experienced guys on the field. Even if a lower classman is more talented, they are putting that experienced upper classman on the field 99/100 times.

The reality is that window of opportunity is closing and newly signed QB Peter Parrish is going to be pushing hard to prove he's the next QB in line to take over the offense

Everyone said the same thing about Brennan signing. You don't know shite about a kid until he gets here.
I'm glad you didn't tell Matt Flynn his time was now or never.

This is dumb.

I'm not overly high on Brennan. But, his time to put up or shut up is one year from now...heading into 2020.
