Even though we know Burrow will be the man next year, Brennan has to show he's made a tremendous leap from where he was last year. He's shown he has a strong arm, but he needs to improve on reading defenses and decision making. He stares down too many receivers and that's not good news in the SEC West! I really like the kid and I'm hoping he can put some weight on and really step up and be the next quarterback in line. The reality is that window of opportunity is closing and newly signed QB Peter Parrish is going to be pushing hard to prove he's the next QB in line to take over the offense.

I really don’t think Brennan will ever start for LSU.

He will have an opportunity after next year if he sticks around. But he'll have to beat out a couple of talented true freshmen. It's gonna be tough.

His time is now or never, but you then go on to say Burrow is the guy next year.

Do you know what now or never means?

You watching the practices? Are you an insider with access to coaches opinions? Or, are you just throwing shite at the wall with gereralizations about freshmen beating out 3 year in the system talent?

Is this a pre off-season thread?

It’s gonna be tough for a RSjr to beat out true freshman?

You, and anybody else who says this, is just throwing shite at the wall. We haven't seen enough of Brennan, or any of any other QB, to have a clue. Brennan has a whole season left to improve, and the other QBs aren't on campus yet. So, nobody has a clue how it will play out, including the coaches who see them daily.

Just my opinion but I don’t think he’s that good. He played against weak competition in high school and his offer sheet really wasn’t that great. Like I said it’s just my opinion.

I’m pretty sure the coaches have a good idea if he can eventually start at this level or not by now.

Possibility that he just needs development. He isn't projected to start until his redshirt junior year. That might be enough time for him to start.

Never count any man out. The light bulb could come on and things could change. I'll be rooting for that, anyway.

So kids don't improve from year to year in college football?

agreed, and I've posted the same on this board.

In response to the OP, Brennan's time was this past spring. The table was set for him to take the starting QB job and he couldn't do it.

If he couldn't do it then , I seriously doubt he ever will.

Now of course he could improve and win the job later, but I doubt that will happen.

of course they do, but the improvement is usually marginal.

Sure they do but usually coaches at that level can determine if a QB has it or not. There are exceptions of course.

Have the feeling a transfer will come in after next season to challenge Brennan if the Parrish kid doesn't prove ready
