You done it now! Nobody speaks ill of a 90's pop-country song by an artist, neither of which have any connection to LSU, Baton Rouge, or even Louisiana, but happen to mention the city in which LSU is located!
You god damned right you stupid troll frickers.
I did play rugby with a guy from CSU/Ft Collins. He thought New Orleans was its own state separate from Louisiana.
So frick your school and town. Samantha would never give you the time of day.

Just once I'd like to see the old Gaelic version of "Callin' Baton Rouge" played on the new Alex Box video board.
The story behind the video, linked below, is when the GBFTL visited and performed in Ireland a few years ago, a local singer and band were so entralled that they wanted to cut their own version of "Callin' Baton Rouge" sung in the old Irish Gaelic language.
Here is the video....

It was originally a song by the Oak Ridge Boys in the 70's and was written by Dennis Linde. Seems like a lot of country & western songs back then referenced BR.
FYI Linde had a pretty amazing songwriting career:
Burning Love - Elvis
John Deere Green
Queen of My Double Wide Trailer
Goodbye Earl
Coolrider - Grease 2
among others.

"Such a strange combination of a woman and a child"
Either it's an adult woman who acts like a child or an underage girl who is "well developed" for her age. Considering the song was written in the '70s when half the rock songs seem to be about screwing underage girls and musicians were adopting kids so they could bang them, I'm going with the latter.

Is a cheesy 90s country song about some girl in Baton Rouge supposed to instill in me some kind of "Louisiana pride"?

I missed the game today. He better change that shite now because he was smoking the ball in Florida and went 0-4.
He had that same song when he first came up and had to change it.

What is another interpretation of this line that makes the least bit of sense?

quote:Well, there is context, for one thing. The fact that the rest of the song makes no mention of any sort of illicit relationship or sneaking around behind the Samantha's parents is a clue. Your interpretation would actually have Brooks singing about plying an underage girl with wine and having sex with her. And then there's Garth Brooks himself, who has no history of pedophilia. All of this makes it easy to say that, whatever Brooks is singing about, its not about cheerfully breaking the law.
