This is what Jimbo was referring to in his press conference. He was LSU’s offensive coordinator at the time.

Lol De LA Salle was paying for his apartment. So what?

No question we were buying players for that 2001 class. Saban hadn’t done anything and he arrives and we immediately signed the top talent in the state.
1. everyone pays players, always have
2. we were signing good classes under Dinardo too. Saban walked into a wealth of talent that simply needed proper coaching.

It’s no different than him arriving to Alabama and having a 6-6 year and then landing the #1 recruiting class.\
It's a lot different IMO. Saban was already a big name by the time he got to Alabama.

Pretty convenient that Marquise Hill isn't around anymore to refute these bogus claims.
Yea Saban just started paying players at Bama

Mr. Edwards is lucky that Marquise isn't around to rag doll him for running his mouth out of turn.

LSU offered him more money than Michigan did. It’s just a shitty take because he cherry picked a guy that’s been dead for 15 years.

Most guys seems laugh when asked these questions, everyone knows. If I remember correctly he had a brand new expedition or explorer that year.

This sucks because it’s us and Marquise, but Saban opened this door with his completely unnecessary comments the other day. I imagine more of these stories will start coming out. Which may wind up being a good thing moving forward. Pull back the curtain, be transparent of what has happened and what is happening, and maybe get a handle on this NIL stuff before it gets to far out of hand in even further widening the gap between the haves and have nots.

Well he can say whatever he wants since Marquise is not alive to defend himself or refute it. What a little bitch. FU BE.

Saban paid a lot of players at LSU. Ali Highsmith, Barrington Edward's, Hill, Bowe etc. He started/utilized our heavy FL connections funneling. Same group that made sure PP7 made it here. Lyles was just a broker.
What's sad is that just now a certain "our shite don't stink" faction of our fanbase is just now admitting that we cheat.

I met Marquise’s uncle in the checkout line at Winn Dixie very early on in the fall of my freshman year at LSU. He was so proud to tell me that his nephew was coming to LSU next year to play for the tigers. He Pulled out a picture of Marquise in his De La Salle uniform to show me. This was probably September of 2000, 4 months before signing day.
Soooooo…where’s the part when his uncle told you LSU paid his nephew??

Saban created the best network of buying players ever seen in college sports. He was good at it at LSU. He mastered it at Bama.

As bad as paying a player $400,000 and funneling it through a church

Somewhere in here you have the answer to "Why didn't they fire Coach O? Why did they let him have a 17 million dollar buyout?"
