The Brady era was fun. The team always had talent and the students actually made it fun to attend games. 99-06 was a solid run for a school that has basketball 3rd in importance.

Tigadog's link:

I just finished reading "Pistol - The Life of Pete Maravich" by Mark Kriegel. It really is a great book. In the book, he discusses Pistol Pete's two sons and there basketball careers. If you remember, Josh Maravich, Pete's youngest son, played for LSU for four years. Granted, he did not have the skills of his father, but in the book they discuss how he truly wanted to attend LSU for his father's sake. Brady tried to talk him out of it, but let him walk on because " I certainly wasn't going to be the coach not to let the son of Pistol Pete walk on at LSU". From then, he goes on to discuss how John Brady basically made him a punchline during practices. Kriegel says " In practice, his finest moments became his most humiliating. Every time he scored in practice Brady would blow a whistle even before the ball went through the net. A disdainful wince would come across the coach's face as he began to excoriate the guy who just got beat, reminding him that he wasn't guarding an All-American from Kentucky or Florida. "C'mon," Brady would say. "This is Josh Maravich... Josh" " Josh would look up at (Pete Maravich) banner hanging in the rafters and hope his father was not see what was happening. The coach would mention his name only to admonish another player. "You just let Josh Maravich score on you son". "Brady would tell everybody how he admired Pete Maravich, but then he goes on and treats his son like crap" says Jackie Maravich (Pete's widow and Josh's mom). "People who were there called me and told me how Brady humiliated him a couple of times in practice" Then it says that Josh was the only senior to not get in the game on Senior Day at the PMAC.

I don't know Josh Maravich and I know he isn't the Pistol, but what a revealing piece on the way John Brady treats people in general, much less the son of the school's biggest legend. Brady is a jerk and it is time to get a fresh start with the basketball program. He and his coaching are an embarassment to LSU and its fans.

Yeah, f*ck that guy. I don't care if it's Pete Maravich's son or Misha Mutadvich's son, you don't treat someone like that. Goes way beyond constructive criticism, and into the realm of just plain old being a dick.

I coined the phrase (should've copyrighted that mother) "What's better than 4 years at LSU, A Fifth of Jack" for 5th Yr Senior Jack Warner (former Walk-Ons Owner)

what was Brady suppose to do "baby" him.....???This isn't biddy basketball. Josh shouldn't have received special treatment and he didn't. He should have went to Southeastern, Milsaps College, or some place like that.

Butch Pierre was the top assistant under Brady and laughed when the subject of Josh's cameo playing time was raised.

"My son played for John Brady at Arkansas State, he was a walk-on like Josh, and coach will be up 20-25 points and doesn't play him, either. My wife doesn't understand."

Pierre turned serious when asked about Brady chopping down Josh in practice: "It wasn't nothing against Josh. Coaches can sometimes be misunderstood because they're trying to motivate a player in some fashion. I would've explained that to Josh had I known. It's bad that he feels that way because Josh was a good teammate who played at the same school as his father and handled everything well."

Who knew that firing that a-hole that got us back to the Final Four would send the program into a spiral that we have yet to come out of.

I wish we had an a-hole for a coach right about now.

Brady stunk up the Final Four. It was so embarrassing how UCLA dominated us.

I despise johnny as much as anyone but let's not kid ourselves. Although Brady was a far better coach he wasn't that great. He was an impossible a-hole that players hated and he ran one of the most inept offenses ever. We don't need to go back to him let's just do better with the next hire.
