I'm not going to play down the Auburn win. Winning at Jordan-Hare is always a task, even if Auburn isn't that great.

The Miami win was just not all that impressive, with the benefit of hindsight. I'm of course glad we took care of business but that was a mediocre to bad team that was horribly overrated

Their defense wasn't bad and they finished with a winning record. LSU'S strength of schedule was still very high.

As opposed to losing to Troy and suffering an all-time loss to Mississippi State?

Well if it makes you feel any better, in 2015 when LSU lost to Arkansas at home 31-14, Arkansas had lost to the Toledo Rockets at home. At least the Troy team that the 2017 LSU team lost to by 3 points went 11-2.

Orgeron, a one-time LSU walk-on and a Northwestern State graduate, isn’t backing down. And he’s not afraid to pick a fight with rival Alabama, which has beaten the Tigers six straight times. “My goal is to build a championship program fast — very fast,” he said

. “You are judged by that game,” Orgeron said of the Crimson Tide. “That's the nature of the beast. I welcome it. I bring it on. I can't wait till the day we beat those guys.”

interesting quotes from coach o when he was hired.

he said he would build a championship program "very fast". of course everyone can debate what the "very fast" means.

O supporters get mad when he gets destroyed for failing to beat alabama. yet he admits it's the game he will be judged on.

A rise would be finishing better than 3rd in the SEC West

Ridiculous post.
it is correct. A rise would be an improvement from 5th in the SEC or better than 3rd in thre west WHEN THE CONFERENCE IS TOP LOADED IE DOWN.

You want to compare records go back and look at the many years Miles was here and where the SAeC West finished.
No comparison on the whole division.
Miles needed to be fired no doubt, but spewing bull shite abut improvemrnt is just that - bull shite.

hi, Ree! What's your predicted W-L record for LSU this year?

Thank you for your interest on my thoughts on these matters.

I especially appreciate you thinking enough of my opinions to ask this before the team has gone through summer workouts and fall camp. My opinion must hold a lot of weight with you. Much appreciated bud.

That's not immediately Were you expecting it in year one or two? I sure wasn't.

I think we expect it this year for sure

The "immediate" thing is more rantards fantasy.

Just having Lawrance and Fehoko playing their natural positions would be a huge benefit. Great play at the nose tackle position is our biggest question mark on defense I believe. Great play there has us in the running for top defense in college football imo.

Final S&P rankings:
2015 Arkansas: 14th
2017 Troy: 65th
ETA:
2015 Toledo: 50th

Just keeping with the S&P theme of the thread.

I think some teams don't recover well from early losses. Had they beaten us their season could've played out completely differently.

FSU in 2017 was top 5 and got killed by bama and lost their QB...they struggled to go 6-6. I have to think had they not played bama they would've had a better year.

"Very fast" clearly means no less than five years.

Coach O is doing what Miles failed to do, build solid lines and find a QB and lets not forget refused to change the offensive philosophy!

Building solid lines remains to be seen. LSU's offensive line graded out as a top 5 unit in 2015, by the way.

There were 2 unacceptable losses

When did it become unacceptable to lose two road games in the SEC to ranked teams? UF finished #7 AP and #6 Coaches in the final rankings. A&M finished top 20 and had help in their win against LSU.

A guy who was with the program 2 months? Inexperienced skill position players? Nah..I sure didn't

I predicted 10-3, 11-2.
