I’m not sure Boutte had 6 total days of good practice his last year at LSU. Boutte’s problems have never been physical. The tools are all in place and easy for everybody to see. Maybe somebody finally had a talk with with him that touched his heart and the Kid got his head right. Good luck to this young man. Nobody likes seeing wasted talent.

Injuries are physical, and he had some. Now, they can affect the mental if not fully healed...

a new hire employee has 5-6 good days on the job and this place goes crazy best of luck to all former Tigers but that's just kind of funny to me

Hadn't seen that. I hope he is "cooking" as they said. I'm rooting for him.

He got a ton of talent so it wouldn't be surprising if he turns it on in the NFL. You could tell he just didn't want to be in college.

Is this where, as an LSU Fan, we start liking and pulling for him again? Or are we still mad we didn't like his business decision because like most LSU fans...he thought the backup was better.

Boutte got hurt in college. Maybe mentally he said to himself, "Boutte, if you ever are going to get hurt again, it must be after getting paid to play."

Almost there. Still a few "experts" who know better. If he has a good performance, Thursday, they're in.

I'm not sure where you got this from. BK called him a good leader and team player more than once last year.

I think these impressions were gained when Boutte was discussing possibly going into to the portal to play for Alabama and from actually watching him in games when he would quit on routes or employ alligator arms. His video interview prior to last season suggested huge attitude problems. And BK was both hot and cold about Boutte. I assume he was trying to encourage him at times, and he seemed to respond reasonably well from time to time.

and part of that was probably BK selling himself to the team and trying to salvage something out of Boutte, as opposed to writing him off, shitting on him

With 53 man rosters, it is more likely than not that he gets cut and placed on the practice squad.

They may not keep him on the 53, but I don’t think there’s much chance he stays on their practice squad. He’s too talented with too much potential. Some team will poach him and put him on their 53.

He stuck it out as bad as 20-21 was. He could have went to Bama and gotten paid last year but chose to stay a Tiger. Got to always roll with him now.

Setbacks here cost the fella a lot of money and prestige at lsu, injury and program changes. JD looked elsewhere or tucked it a lot , max would hit him every time if he could.

Was an integral part of beating bama and winning the west, much appreciated Tiger in my book.

I firmly believe Boutte represents one of the things I really don't like about recruiting in college sports. People label kids with "5 stars" or "blue chips" or "can't miss prospect" or whatever clickbait buzzwords they come up with, and convince people to have all these incredible expectations. Then if the player -- who generally is not the one responsible for the hype -- doesn't have a superstar performance, it's him the fans take it out on; not the recruiting "gurus" who were the ones who actually convinced them to have those expectations in the first place.

Boutte had a successful WR career at LSU. He made a bunch of catches for a bunch of yards and several TDs. But because a lot of people claimed he was going to be our next Biletnikoff winner, people went off on him for "underperforming". He had an injury, he struggled with maturity, had second thoughts, but at the end of the day delivered a pretty good career for LSU. If we'd never heard of him before he signed with LSU, most fans would probably have been excited about his performances.

Personally, I'm glad he played for LSU and helped us win some games. I hope he does well and wish him the best, and really hope he doesn't end up making some terrible choices that hurt him and LSU. And I don't care that he didn't have a "5 star" career here.

Agree. Perhaps not being drafted until the sixth round was something that opened his eyes and changed his attitude. He's no longer on scholarship with his bills paid. He has to prove himself and make at least the practice squad, or find a job to support a family. That can provide motivation in a hurry

Kid has all the talent in the world. Sounds like he’s finally getting healthy and focused. Hoping for him to succeed.
