I remember when Anthony Jennings was really struggling against New Mexico State, and people were clamoring for Harris to come in. When Jennings jogged back out there on a drive, that was the loudest collection of booing I had heard, but I think that was more directed towards the coaching staff putting Jennings in a position to fail and Miles being too stubborn to make a change.

It is kind of dumb to boo, but I'm fine with it, especially in this day and age of NIL and portal and how much these players and coaches are making.

Nice excuse. Booing our players far outlives NIL.

Grown men in here justifying themselves for childish behavior. Grow up. Be a better example.

It is embarrassing. To the morons who were never taught how to act, never, ever boo your own team.

Fans have been booing players way before NIL.

Let’s not pretend this just started with NIL giving fans a right to jeer players.

You are right. As a consumer of the product a team is placing out there, if they are not performing at the expected level they should be, the only way to show displeasure is with your wallets.

I think it’s really silly to think big time college football players are so sensitive that they can’t be boo’d when they play atrociously

It’s only a little about the player’s feelings for me. A lot of it is about the perception. The national media sees us as this strong supportive fanbase. They don’t know what it really is.

I like to know when that happened. Something occurred in the student section after the long td by Vandy and possibly another crowd murmer just before the 1/2 with the poor clock management

They were chanting "Fire Kelly."

I booed from home. REALLY LOUD. I know they can hear me. Don’t drop td’s and first downs and then dance for 7 minutes after catching a TD where no one was even in the tv shot.
My money, my cable bill. Pro players have the same feelings, but we boo them too.

They get paid now. Boo away. Perform or get cut.

Players wanted this and it comes with larger expectations

don't care what happened in the past. everyone involved with LSU football is now well compensated. they can get into another line of work if they don't like the way fans act.

At it's core a college football game for the fans is NOTHING more than a source of entertainment. No different than a play, movie, concert, etc. Do I think "booing" necessarily helps anything? Probably not. But why shouldn't the fans (customers) be forbidden from voicing their displeasure with the product they are watching?

This isn't pee wee football with moms and dads watching little kids on a Sunday afternoon. It is a multi BILLON dollar entertainment industry. One where the players are (now) afforded the opportunity to live some pretty lavish lifestyles relative to a lot of people. They also get showered with absurd adulation from adults 2x, 3x their age when they do well. It is a very public performance, so don't bask in the glory of success if you aren't willing to also accept the criticism that can come with failure.

Again, I don't really boo the team/players because (1) I don't feel like it, and (2) I don't think it really helps anything. But this statement...

quote:

No one sitting by you wants to hear your input after every play. You’re not that important.

cuts both ways. If booing means "you're not that important", then the same applies to cheering.

Reading this board, you would think everything was squeaky clean before and NIL ruined it all.

Lots of heads in the sand pretending the bag man didn’t exist.

No it doesn’t. And I was more talking about the people that try to yell out instructions to the players during/after plays rather than the booing. Singling yourself out to draw attention. A lot of yall can’t control your emotions. Pretty embarrassing.

I agree with you jrod. People have their right to do and act as they please. However, I want what's best for LSU. In the NFL, its not just free agency but drafting players who are required to work for you. New recruits or even current players hearing about this or seeing it live will consider going elsewhere which hurts us in long run.
