Everyone of the rantards wanted Joe Montana as our back up. It still amazes me and I don't know why it shouldn't after reading post on the rant this long, but there are still may LSU "fans" who want Miles to fail and will bitch about any decision he makes that is better for the team. This does not weaken the team in any way.

He's African American and plays football.

I would be curious to see what he would do with LSU's line, running backs, and receivers.

I thought Bolden looked decent in this video. I wish he would have played the whole game. It was quite obvious McGloin sucks and has no hope. The playcalling seemed pretty conservative, except for that one beautiful reverse that was fumbled. The receiving talent is definately lacking at Penn St. Bolden made a few bad reads but he also made some nice throws and seems like he can make some plays. I am happy he is the backup. The more the merrier. Adding experienced depth never hurt any team. I see potential in him at the college level.

Yep he's pretty good, they were only trailing Alabama 27-3 late in the game at home when Bama put thier 2nd string in, and PSU scored to make it 27-11 final.

Rivers looked like dog shite in the spring game
Dude, you either didn't watch Rivers playing in this year's spring game at all or you have forgotten about how miserably JJ showcased in the previous two spring games while he was considered progressing. Rivers didn't blow my mind in the spring game, but at least he showed much more promise than JJ's ever done. And don't overlook the fact that he was throwing against our 1st team D most of the time in the spring game.

it's scary that PSU's offense seemed to have bama on the edge in the 1st half footage of the OP's link [alot more than LSU's did in the Nov 5th & BCSNG]. Especially considering that all of our skill positions are alot better than Penn St.

I am just looking at him as a half way decent insurance policy if something bad happens to Mett.

i think the vast majority of y'all don't understand how big of a gap we have between Mett and Rivers right now.

Some of us do. Insurance.

quote:Yeah, me too. What I think I saw was a QB cut out of the same mold as we had end of last year, but who seemed to have a lot more field awareness, and a sense that there is a flow to the game that includes moving the ball down the field as a team. Another plus - I didn't see any temper tantrums when balls were dropped, either (maybe those were edited out?

So all this is to say, Bolden has some experience with Alabama - and that by itself is huge. IMO, he will be doubly-motivated to excel against the Tide if he gets into the Bama game during his tenure as a Tiger. That can only do us good.

I would rather give Rivers a shot if needed. Been in the system and threw it well in the spring game.
you obviously didn't go to the spring game

He looks as good throwing the ball as the qb we had in the NC game

One thing that stood out to me is his throwing motion. It is much better than JJs ever was no wind up at all. This was a huge part of JJs problem he hardly ever released the ball from the same point. To compare him to JJ is unfair as a passer he has more potential.

regardless of what the gumps are saying on the sec rant, their secondary will not be as good this year
