That might have been Les Miles greatest game. Played 3 QBs only threw the ball like 8 times, had 5 players with over 50 yards rushing, defense had a TD and a few turnovers.
You could replay that game 1000 times and ole miss wouldn’t win one of them.

iirc, during that era arse whoopings and high powered offenses factored in to the BCS formula and we were neck and neck with bama, iirc, and they had just run it up on somebody with a similar score and Les was trying to stay neck and neck with them, a least that was story on the street back then

Petrino made that gesture right after we threw a pass in the 4th quarter and game was out of reach. No big deal. Coaches just hated losing to Les because he sounds like a retard

what's hilarious about that is Arkansas did the exact same thing to their previous 2 opponents, but couldn't handle it when it happened to them.
beat Tennessee 49-7 and was still throwing the ball up 42-7 in the 4th
beat Miss State 44-17 and was still throwing the ball up 37-10 in the 4th

I just rewatched the highlights and Petrino was a dumb frick for his reaction. Nothing wrong with any of the play calling in the 4th ... Les even knelt at the end.

it was also a 1 vs 3 matchup, so les running up the score at that point in time secured LSU in the natty no matter the result of the Sec championship game.
