Yep. He has surprised me too. With his no nonsense attitude and his attention to detail, seems like he will keep them competitive....if he can recruit at all

It was simply the first Google link Russian (ETA: from "Paul mainieri throws player under bus". Search for yourself if you don't believe me). It's not like I went back searching that far. I'm not you.

He didn't name the player? yeah. No one knew who he was talking about.

I think it's fine for both PM and Blake (any coach) to coach as they typically would when mic'd. Do you agree?

He's so ready to protect PM from my posts that he can't even see that I was defending PM to start with. That what PM says to directly to his players, like Dean, isn't throwing them under the bus, mic's or not. My last comment of the post was to only say where the rep comes from. No criticism at all. He's losing his mind.

Remember that time LSURussian didn't fight with someone in a baseball thread?

I didn't think so.

Would y'all say at 28 that Blake is still the best player in whatever stadium he's in even though he's coaching? Probably definitely could help UNO haha.

Very cool. For anyone who said blake was harsh....are you kidding? My middle school football coach was worse than that. Yall clearly haven't played sports at any level. Nothing was even slightly bad.

Blake knew he was mic'd up for the media, so is it really all that different in this case?
correct, however, for our resident expert's it means a lot - after all - they are very cool.

Dean is one of my favorite players all time for LSU, and probably the best pure hitter on the '09 team. He seemed to get the big hits when we needed them.

Do y'all think he dropped out of pro ball so quickly because:

A. Couldn't hit pro pitching
B. Wasn't fast enough for the pros
C. Didn't have a real position to play
D. A combination of two
E. All of the above

Kind of a hard arse

Heard him on Ronny Rantz radio show a couple of weeks back. Was patting himself on the back pretty good for UNO's better than expected start. Enough for me to notice right away.

This weekend, he told me I should be banned for the entire baseball season because I jokingly said that PM was yelling at the team in the clubhouse rather than RF like after the Sac St loss because he pulled them directly in there rather than meeting in the OF like normal.

LIES!!111!

The answer is A. B and C are never an issue if you can do A. That's the final answer not really debatable.

I don't keep up with the players once they leave here, except for what I read on the Rant.
Never heard how he did with his career, but it seemed like he called it quits really fast. Guys like Schimpf and Ochinko are still battling it out.

Hope he does well coaching

I think Dean will do a great job at UNO as long as he can retain players. He does seem to come across as very tough and people are always complaining that Mainieri loses players for that very same reason.

If Dean has a solid 5-6 year career at UNO, I wouldn't be surprised to see him interview here once Mainieri retires.

I think it would take more than 5-6 years experience before he'd be considered here.
But it would be cool if he ended up coaching here one day.

Or did you mean as an assistant?
