Never seen one of these before, but got a pretty cool picture of one this morning. At least I'm pretty sure it's a coyote.

About 15 years ago I killed an all black coyote in Centreville Mississippi. Didn't think anything of it and dumped it in a creek. Definitely wasn't a dog.
Got back to the camp and the land owner happened to be there and I told him about it. Said he had heard about a line of an all black coyote in the area but had never seen one. He wanted it to mount. Even went back and walked along the creek looking for it. Apparently they're out there just very rare.

This was in Norwood, LA. So all of about 15 minutes from Centerville. First time I've ever seen one, in person or on camera.

Seen one in liberty ms in late 90’s. I thought hard about shooting it but didn’t want to screw up the deer hunt.

I was just a couple of miles over the state line. Gotta be the same lineage.

Supposedly they can't swim

Seen three in my lifetime. Two in SC and one in Ga.
First SC one never broke stride so I airmailed a grim reaper over his back at just under 45 yds. Would have had him mounted because he was a grown one.
Second SC one was on a woodline considering crossing I-85 down near Clemson. Always wonder if he ever made it because not much else does in that stretch

I had one follow me while bushhogging probably 25 years ago. I was mowing a head high over grown field. He would pop out and grab a rat and disappear. Only one I’ve ever seen. North Florida.

I've had one on camera 4 years now in area 3.

I caught an all black one on my trap line in the early ‘80s. Ultimately had it mounted. I always wondered whether it was crossed with a dog that resulted in the coloration.

a lot of black coyote genetics in the Big Sandy, TX area. I know of 4-5 that have been shot or trapped
