But I do think he knew what he had…I said 10-2 or 9-3 before season started and I still see that.

It’s still a rebuild, last year gave all of us a false sense of reality. Take a look around the roster and you can easily see the problems. We still lack depth and talented starters at key positions.

If we really are a year or two away, then what is the point of starting 5 at qb? He is clearly not the man for the job now or in the future and may drive WR's away (see Boutte).

People forget….. last year, after the FSU game, it was very common for people to start threads saying shite like we were gonna struggle to win 2/3 SEC games and we went on to win the west
People get too caught up in the moment. People love to overreact after week one and it blows my mind how quickly some people forget what happened just one season ago

But the season is long, and I don’t think we are far off from being a real contender

I agree. If we’re a year away, then why not groom a QB who will be here?
If everyone else is a year away, why would you start a brand new QB in that year?
Just trot out anyone you believe could start a year away and have everyone ready for that year.
Never been a fan of Jayden, but I’m also not pushing for any certain back up. Let’s just plan for the future, or that “year away”, per Kelly.

Seems like we are more than a year away. We are losing our best players to the draft this year and recruiting hasn't been a homerun this year. We will likely be worse next year.

This loss sucks bad and there are some warning signs I’m concerned about in regards to the future.
But in the scheme of things, it doesn’t really have to mean anything other than a small detour. So maybe everyone needs to chill and let it play out. I know that won’t happen, but all of this chaos doesn’t mean anything.

I don’t totally disagree with you, and there’s a chance they could get it together, but for all sense and purposes we lost by 4 touchdowns. 4!!!
We didn’t compete whatsoever. We still have a run first QB, WRs who are not confident with their QB, no running game, defensive backs who can’t tackle, cover and are out of position, coaches who get out coached.
The SEC games we won and how we won them last year was great, but I don’t see this team competing. And it’s a shame because we really have one of the advantage schedules this year with home games.
Obviously we all hope it changes, we shall see.

Most of the fans agree that we’re a year away before we have a passing game that gives this team a chance against great teams. Hopefully our qb for next year gets more experience this year.

The DBs were an embarrassment. That needs to be fixed before we are competing for a Championship.

Last year was not a false sense, but I understand your thinking. Think of last year as a sample. Once we can get players in the Kelly pipeline and keep them multiple years and not replace an entire secondary, then we can expect teams to get better year from year without steps back.
I think its unrealistic to replace all those players in the secondary and expect to be better this year.
