re: BK really did say "We're gonna beat the heck out of Florida State".

I think a lot of y’all forget that we almost couldn’t field a team before the transfer portal last year.

Rant about to shite themselves over confidence.

Can you imagine the response if he said we have 15 freshmen and 14 transfers making the trip so we’ll just do the best we can?

There’s a difference in being motivated vs pissed off. Some people play better pissed off.

Wish he had not said that. This just adds more incentive for FSU. I would play it down, and then surprise the hell out of everyone. You can bet the whole FSU coaches and players have heard this clip. GEAUX TIGERS!

If a team needs locker room motivation to beat an opponent, then so be it!
I personally think BK is spot on and couldn't care less if Florida State wants to use his words as motivation.
BOTTOM LINE: WE COMING FOR YOU SEMINOLES!

Every year is different. None knows what to expect. I think this team is much better than last year, but that means nothing. If JD5 turns out to be a thrower who scrambles to extend plays, LSU will be very salty.

If we’ve improved and are consistent and beat FSU we have to beat 8&4 to be in the playoffs. BK has a good team. Elite is yet to be determined.

Not sure I’d call that “ We’re gonna beat the heck out of Florida State” an appropriate statement for a coach to say. Respect your foe and then plow over his row. Show some class and don’t be an a**.

He called it last year with Tom Petty and FLA also. I trust CBK!

Hope this is like the 2011 Oregon game.

My only concern is FSU’s QB and receiving corps vs our brand new secondary.

It's not the first time a very confident coach made that type of statement before a big game.
Remember Jimmy Johnson before the 1993 NFC title game with the 49ers? He called a radio station to say that the Cowboys would wear out the Niners in the second half. Result: Cowboys-38 Niners-21
Johnson guarantees victory
Johnson: Cowboys will wear out 49ers
Sometimes these statements can jack up and reinforce confidence on your own team. Or- as Jimmy Johnson strategized- it could intentionally put pressure on his own shoulders to loosen up his players. It could psychologically force the opponent to get overemotional before the game. Or it could put intentional pressure on your own team to perform at their best.
I like Brian Kelly's confidence. He's not a loose cannon with the media. He knows exactly what he's saying and why he's saying it. This was said to a group of LSU fans in a small setting. Hopefully, it doesn't backfire.
I think LSU should win the game from a talent standpoint. Looking at the FSU starting lineup, I'd say 80 percent or more were 3 stars coming out of high school, including almost all of their starting linemen on both sides. They're very experienced- which counts for a lot early in the season. I think by the 4th quarter LSU will begin to wear them down. I hope that opinion is right.
