He certainly knows more about football than I know about sentence structure.

Honestly, my only concern is our DBs. But if our front 7 is who we think they are, then that might not matter regardless.

Seems like it was an off the cuff remark to not make it sound like he was making excuses after talking about the freshmen.

Don't get me wrong, FSU has improved as well. They did a great job in the portal. But with last season being year 3 of Mike Norvell FSU's ceiling for the level of improvement was lower than LSU's in year 1 under Kelly. Norvell was on his way to getting fired at the beginning of last season.

FSU flashed for a few games last season, but if you look at the performance down the stretch, nothing shows the consistent dominant performances that you would see out of a team that is in the top 10 this season. Three losses in a row to two middle of the road teams, a few dominant wins...then scraping by UF and OU.

Bingo and we have a much more improved team then last year other than maybe DBs, which we still don't know how they will end up panning out.

I wouldn't look too much into it. He's just trying to show some confidence in his team. But I'm sure neckbeards on FSU boards are sky screaming about "muh bulletin board material"

Well of course, and if an opposing coach said the same exact thing I guess we’d not make a big deal about it.

I don’t really care for a coach saying that, I know I’ll be in the minority and get plenty downvotes, but bring them on. That seems like something Coach O might say.

Did you actually listen to it in context bc it wasn’t the same as the “sissy blue shirt” comment at all.

It followed talking about us bringing 15 freshmen and 14 transfers to Orlando and how we are still building this team *but we will beat the hell out of FSU anyway so no need to worry about that. Just recognize that it will be a hard road with a learning curve.*

I did listen to in context and still didn’t like it. I like BK, not trying to shite on him. But I don’t believe it was a good thing for any coach to say.

Ok but I disagree. It wasn’t said as a taunt but as a reassurance to the fans that they would be ready for the game even though we are traveling to that game with so much inexperience.

My only concern going into game one is Denbrock. I don't think his offensive approach was very good last season. One that didn't lead to a lot of explosive plays outside of Daniels simply breaking contain and scrambling for big runs. He said recently he felt like he was in "survival mode" last season in terms of play calling because of so many new parts. That's reasonable. But that is not the case anymore. So if this offense is not explosive it is on HIM and his approach.
I don't disagree, although I think he did a better job than a lot of people give him credit for when you consider what he had to work with. That said, I'm not concerned heading into this year for simply because Kelly is guiding the ship. He has always done a phenomenal job of adapting to the players he has. Those two have now had a year to develop our offensive system and fine tune things, so I think we'll be just fine. Also, Denbrock was pretty damn good at Cincy, so I think we'll see a lot of improvement.

I don’t have a problem with him saying it in that context, but he surely knows that the media will run with it and make it a headline with no context, which they now have. If FSU doesn’t use this as motivation, they’re missing an opportunity. I’m also guessing he’s wishing he wouldn’t have said it….but he’s a damn smart guy……maybe it was intentional and he knows something I don’t.

Couldn’t you say this exact same thing about LSU though? I think we’ll be good and win on Sunday, but if you are talking about inconsistent teams, LSU can certainly be grouped into that.

The difference is pretty big.
SEC. The way we played Bama. The way we exploded all over Purdue. This team is going to hurt some folks this year.

Not a great comparison. Norvell was in his third year at FSU last year, and had a much more complete roster. We were a patchwork at best, but figured it out and improved drastically as the season progressed until the lack of depth caught up to us. You saw in the bowl game what we were capable of when rested. I know it was just Purdue, but we looked incredibly polished.
