Hey a-hole, it doesn't make a damn whether LSU wins the first game of a 12 game season or not. It matters how you play within the SEC and how you finish. If you want to whine like an 8 year old about 1 lousy game at the beginning of the season, it is you that is fricking retarded. Go play in the street little boy. You don't understand college football and what it takes to get in the playoffs. Ohio State lost near the beginning of the season to Oregon and won the NC. Go frick yourself!

Are you fricking kidding me? If LSU lost those bowl games, there would be rants and screams all over this forum. Sssoooo, they are not remotely "meaningless." I will also point out that they helped Kelly get to 10 W's each of his first 2 seasons. And everyone that I've ever heard speak of seasons put 10 W's as a benchmark of success for teams. That includes announcers, analysts, etc who speak of it out the wazzoo.

It doesn't keep you out of the playoffs. How to play in the tough SEC is much more important. BTW, I specifically said in the OP losing to a bowl bound team. You can't lose to SE LA or whoever and not have a detrimental effect. Although Notre Dame lost to N Illinois and ended up in the playoffs.

People will rightfully be disappointed and upset if we don’t make the playoff in 2025, and actual heat/pressure will begin, but there is zero chance BK will be fired after 2025 season barring some unforeseen scandal.

2026 is the first year that Kelly could potentially be on any legitimate and realistic “hot seat”

All that said, I think this conversation won’t matter… LSU will make the playoff this season IMO.

Yep, spot on. 2025 is not a make or break year for Kelly. Drama queen posters like to give such opinions.

As several of us have stated, no way should Kelly be in the top 5 of the hottest coaches seats. He made it due to name recognition (shock factor), SOME peoples' expectations, etc. I would put him near the bottom of the top 10, certainly not top 5. The obvious stupidity of the list is not having Lincoln Riley probably at #3.

IMO, LSU will probably make the playoffs this season but as always besides quality of play, luck including injuries, etc are unpredictable. Also there are always surprises in opponent quality...some better than expected and some worst. ACTUAL strength of schedule is important, and I'm not talking preseason projected SOS.

Not surprising. Right, wrong or indifferent there is pressure on him and the Program to come out of the blocks vs CU with a W. Probably more pressure IRT any opener than we have seen in years.

It will set the tone for the narrative (noise around the program) moving into Sept & Oct and generate confidence/momentum in the locker room which should translate onto the field.

Me too, I left the stadium disappointed, and didn't care to party afterwards.

Yeah, it's kind of dumb. He has won more at LSU than any other current SEC coach at their school, sans Kirby.

This is despite being a rebuild that was prolonged by his initial defensive hires turning out to be failures.

Ssssooo now the REAL disaster for an opening game loss surfaces...it isn't being 0-1 per se but the defeat being a party pooper. Just kidding.

What is amazing are the comments made by some here that LSU just HAS to beat Clemson or LSU is almost done for. LSU is playing on the road against a team I believe is going to start off top 5 in the nation according to those dartboard based preseason polls. Psst, Clemson will be favored in the game BTW.

oh geez my bad sorry for hoping that our team starts out on the right foot heading into a season. You’re right I’m unreasonable /s

Seriously your sentence is so fricking retarded I’m not reading the rest of that bullshite you posted.
Yeah, well I stupidly did read it. He's talking up winning three meaningless bowl games. I mean, who did we even play last year, Purdue? The year before? WGAS.

And losing those first games speaks to BK's teams simply being unprepared. And it has damn sure foretold what would happen later in the year in other games. But we are pissing in the wind with some of these idiots.

The hot seat is squarely to do with the opening game losses IMO. Fans will go ballistic if we start 0-1 for a 6th straight year.

I agree he needs to start winning those opening games, but any talk about firing him is very premature. The guy is averaging 10 wins a season and most fans bases would love to average 10 wins a season in the SEC.

Unlike what most fans think, I think NIL/TP will make it tougher to win 10+ games each year because all the big boys have lots of money and the loss of one or two key players and a team's season can take a drastic turn downward.

Imagine if Nussmeier left for the NFL and Weeks was lured away for more money, LSU's upcoming season would look much different. I know a lot of fans will say just go buy another QB or LB, but that doesn't guarantee success. I know someone will point out that OSU won the NC with a transfer QB and that is true, but what you don't hear about is the hundreds of other transfer players that were complete busts or failed to meet expectations.

Considering NIL and the TP are fairly new to CFB, and teams are still learning how to make this whole thing work, I'm okay, but not overjoyed, with what CBK has done so far considering the dumpster fire he took over and that NIL/TP has completely changed the landscape of CFB basically overnight!

Let's face it, NIL and the TP are the main reasons Saban, the GOAT, threw in the towel and headed for the showers. Of course, I want Kelly to win more, but I think a little patience is needed, considering the absolute chaos that is taking place in college football.

Clemson is going to be a painful watch. Dabo is 70-5 at home over the last 10 years.

I would try to find a gif that befits your attitude but I'll just point to your profile picture. Pretty much says it all...a fathead. The lack of intelligence is just obvious by your vacuous posts...a total dimwit that knows little about college football. Grow up, little boy!

Utter nonsense. You know what the opening game counts as...a grand total of 1 win or 1 loss. That is it...the total worth of the game. It does NOT remotely mean that LSU was unprepared. And it did NOT foretell the future for LSU. You realize LSU won the next 6 games ...including an away game against a good S Carolina team and a highly ranked Ole Miss in BR. Oh yeah, it really took away momentum didn't it?

Once again, you are a damn hypocrite. Everyone knows if LSU had lost a "meaningless bowl game" you would be calling for Kelly to be fired. So a-hole, bowl games are NOT meaningless. Oh, and for the record, LSU did not beat Purdue in the last bowl game as you stated...they beat a Baylor team soundly that had won 6 games in a row and one of the hottest teams in the country...not that you care about facts. Apparently, you don't even watch LSU football...and falling asleep with a beer in your hand doesn't count! Amazing you try to call other idiots when your football virgin lack of knowledge is on full display.

Well, at some point BK has to put up or shut up. He's not getting paid for four losses a year. Ok, we've recovered from the Orgeron debacle. Now it's time to compete for championships

Somebody needs to actually watch a football game before commenting on the sport. So far, it appears college football is above your pay grade. Have you thought on trying to analyze curling?
