No Doc, they're talking about the AP.
Oh. The bcs is all that matters. Been that way since 1998.

Can't beleive a Gump actually wrote that.
It has logic, it's concise, and the arguments are well researched and thought out.
The anti-Gump.
It was an auburn fan

who would have thought a gump could write something like that? Guess someone in alabama actually has a brain.

Bless his heart. He's going to have a rough week. Threats galore.

Unless the AP decides to give LSU the trophy next week, I have no interest in consolation prizes...win the game!
Precisely my feelings. Screw the AP. The AP voters pouted like spoiled children back in '03 when the BCS formula dared contradict their infinite wisdom.
We can't stop them from voting LSU #1, but that doesn't mean we need to recognize it.
I get that none of us LSU fans care about the AP. What I don't get is the failure of unity in the fan base at least over the next mont relative to the gumps.
They want this rematch to be the whole thing. They want to pretend Nov 5th did not happen. I say claim the AP.....just do it to spite them over the next month.....even if you could care less.
On this our fan base should be united.

There's only one crystal ball. Whoever wins it is THE National Champ, period.
The writer sounds like the bitches from Southern Cal who claimed a NC in '03 because of the polls.
As a matter of fact, that is typical GUMP to put all kinds of "yeah but's" into an outright loss, just as they did on Nov. 5th...

The school will claim the title no matter what the hell the fans have to say about it.

Thanks for posting...very good article.
Every Tiger fan should read to appreciate what kind of season we've had and the respect we have earned. Every Tide fan should read to put the rematch in perspective.

Idiotic article. In 1985 Villanova was crushed twice during the regular season by a vastly superior Georgetown squad. In the NCAA finals Villanova beat Georgetown by two points after shooting 79% from the field. They only missed one shot in the second half - and it was blocked! Georgetown didn't get a share of the title. Villanova won the 64 team tournament that everyone agreed would decide the champion. If Bama wins the two team tournament that decides the NCAA football championship, then they are the champs. Period.

No. Our fans should be united on being manly. The winner is the champ.

Why does everyone continue to use this argument. That is a playoff system. Villanova won their right to play in the title game. Alabama was handed an opportunity based on the perception they are the 2nd best team. Certainly not based on anything concrete just simply the eyeball test...with that said any team worth a damn is capable of pulling an upset on any day. So if this happens the entire seasons body of work should be ignored? When that was supposedly the criteria looked at when choosing the two participants in this game? No it shouldn't be. Hopefully none of it will matter though and we'll take care of business.

Consider LSU's perspective. The Tigers went 13-0 with a ridiculous resume. They won an SEC championship even though it was unnecessary to do so to play for the BCS title. Now they're asked to play a rival they already beat on the road one month ago.

It was actually three times...twice in the regular season and once in the Big East tourny.
It's also my prime example of what I never ever want college football to become, so thanks for bringing it up.
