1. Pulling Hilliard was a complete misfire by Paul. Yes Coleman eventually settled down and was effective and yes the defense let him down, but it totally changed the dynamic of the game. Hilliard was rolling. The pitching change effected the flow and momentum of the game.

2. We can’t hit. They basically gave us the second run. Haven’t hit good pitching all year. Didn’t hit the kid from Gonzaga last week. We do a lot better when we get into a team’s third and fourth starter as we saw last weekend. And Tennessee is better than those two teams last weekend. Only chance we have to pull this off is for Marceaux and Labas to be lights out.

Kid pitching today is a young stud. If he’s on, we are losing. But he has had some bad outings.

If it’s a bad outing, Tigers roll

Tennessee has the better team. People sit here and make excuses but it is what it is. The better team doesn’t lose 4 of 4 games. Hopefully we can pull a couple out of our hats but I wouldn’t bet on it

So what does that say about Tenn. LSU outhit them. If the 3RD baseman doesn't brain fart it is 2-2 or if he turned around and tagged the runner before the first run the game may have been different.

CPM has never been IMO a pitching coach. Always makes bad decisions when to pull a pitcher. I don't know how he got to 1500 wins.

Hilliard wasn’t “ Rolling”. That rain delay is a bitch to overcome…. And like I said in another thread if Hilliard gets rocked by the third time through the lineup you would be bitching that Paul left him in too long… LSU fans want everything both ways….

LSU’s lineup is bad and the bench is even worse. We can’t put more than seven competent hitters in the lineup at any time.

Yes they have a better coach. Really what the hell his this guy done? This guy can’t hold Paul fricking jock dude. 1500 wins you are a live in the moment idiot. Are the hillbillies better, maybe a little, they have won 4 games by 6 runs.
Are they that much better, I don’t think so. Again we win today and the 3rd game is a toss up.

Last night it looked like 2 pretty evenly matched teams, but we should have went at least another inning with Hilliard with just a 1-run lead and him absolutely cruising on the road. Also, we need at least contact from guys like Morgan, Beloso and Thompson. You can't expect to win close games against a good team with those guys getting that many strikeouts.

LSU outhit Tennessee and played decent, but the 6th inning was the only issue. The situational awareness was not good. We shouldn't have been conceding any runs in that close of a game and should have tried to go home on a normal grounder to 3rd. That seems like something the coach would have made clear. Also, it didn't help that the ump's strike zone disappeared for like two batters with a new pitcher in there.

We cant hit——- missing a couple more hitters in the lineup
Not enough pitching——missing a couple good pitchers

Biggest takeaway:

If the jackass ump calls the 3-2 pitch a strike on the 2nd batter of the 6th inning, we aren't bitching about anything.
Ok, we'd be bitching, but not about a loss.

LSU’s issue against good pitching have been:

they have 3 automatic outs at the bottom of the lineup

Lopsided K:BB

Lack of XBH

Been the same all year.

Tennessee’s pitchers were near perfect last night, too.

Yes, it was a better pitch than the one he rung up Morgan on in a full count.
