Big #72 is having a killer season. He's demolishing whomever he is lined up against. How big of an impact do you think he makes in this game. He's getting double teams and eating up those blocks like crazy allows so much more for our linebackers to help with the run. Even though Tyler is having a great year I hope to see our defensive ends improve now that the starters are healthy. I think Lawrence has all of the ability in the world as long as he's healthy.

I know Tyler doesn't have the pretty stats like Derrick Brown but I think he is just as athletic and powerful. What does the rant think?

I think there isn't a player on the team I am happier for. Instead of crying about losing playing time for being over weight and leaving, he put in the work and it is paying off for him big time.

amazing how good he has been this year.

Hoping to see him and Ika on the field at the same time for a few first downs to see how they blow up the LOS. doubtful but would be fun to see.

He’s worked hard to get where he is and has toughed it out. He’s having a monster season and I’m extremely happy for him.

Same. I remember making the comment that he had all the talent in the world and was going to eat himself out of being a millionaire if he doesn't wake up. Happy to see him get it together.

I could be wrong, but I could have sworn Ika and Shelvin were on the field in the 2nd half of early downs against Florida.

Ika is a load as well

Agreed. Happy for him that he's digging in and working his butt off.

I say it every time one of these threads pops up.

He’s the most improved player on the team not named Joe Burrow.

Think Burrows improvement is more about the new offense, his comfortability with it and the shotgun....ive been so impressed with Shelvins gas tank, he's played an insane number of snaps and with great effort....cant say enough about his turn around, would like to see Ika more this week getting ready for Bama

He has improved in a lot of areas. One of the main ones is pocket presence

The tackles didn't play well last year but there were a few plays where you watch and wonder how he couldn't see or feel the pressure

I think the true starting oline has been outstanding this year. Maybe it's a good thing that Charles can only play in the really big games because it keeps him motivated and healthy, he is looking all world. Not to mention Cushenbery, D. Lewis, Deculus has improved greatly and the left guard is very solid with Adrian Magee and Ed Ingram.

I truly think the whole team is coming into their own (other than York and I hope he gets his mechanics figured out). Great punting. The defense is finally healthy, Delpit has been moved to strong safety and is dominating once again, jacoby Stevens is looking great at free safety but he's got to control the emotions. Fulton is healthy again and has looked great and we all know Stingley is all American and will be the best db in all of college (both can live on an island). Just imagine if one of we get a nickle to be dominant (not taking away from Vincent because he's improving as well). Imagine if the defense can figure out pressure with 4 down linemen.

We are almost there fellas and we are getting there at the exact time we need to. National championship in Nola. Bring on the good luck and let Joe get the Heisman and a championship. It would change the entire complexity of the SEC.

I can't say much about the offensive skill players, especially with Terrace Marshall back. Well I will say that Davis-Price is looking very similar to Jeremy Hill. This is the best chance at it all and I'm enjoying every damn second.

A guy can dream, right?

I think it would be fun to see Aranda roll out a 4-3 with Logan, Shelvin, Ika, and Lawrence up front

Our defense is totally different (worse) without him. He's that important, playing that well, and for a surprising number of snaps.

The cherry on top is the fact that when players are struggling with conditioning, effort, and/or the classroom odds are they will not turn it around.

He's one that did. From overweight and in the doghouse to the anchor of a defense. You don't see that often. THAT is character. It's one thing to 'stay the course', start a stud with no issues and stay a stud (hard enough to do in of itself). But to turn it around, that says extraordinary things about Shelvin AND the staff to give him the tools/coaching and support.

I look at Shelvin and see a player I'd want to be right beside me, and coaches behind him that will and can do their jobs and not be lazy and give up.

Nope. That's Deculus, but Shelvin is right behind him.

Lawrence is a very good player, but he isn’t nearly as good as Brown. Brown is top half of first round; Lawrence might be a third round guy.

As far as Shelvin? He’s looked great this year, and THIS is his game. Eating two blockers, or getting a one yard push, makes a huge difference in the run game.

I disagree. Deculus is playing extremely well, but he played fairly well last year. Deculus was one of those guys who was very close to being great last year, but he just couldn’t handle some of the speed rushers on a few plays. All offseason, when he was criticized and folks said we needed someone else there, I was replying that Deculus was good in 2018 and would probably be very good in 2019. People just looked at a handful of bad plays and looked no further.

On the other hand, Shelvin was not good last year. He showed flashes of the talent, but as everyone knows, he was not in shape.

I have clarified my post, I was comparing Shelvin to Brown.

Big #72

the real potential benefit of the improvement of Tyler is he should be used as an example of the results of hard work and patience. Make him the personal contact for any young players losing his confidence as he makes the jump to big time college football. I have not doubt that Tyler would become even more confident in his efforts if/when he becomes this sort of example (or leader).

I’d love to see #72 get rewarded. Line him up at fullback. Let him punch in the 7th TD of the night against Auburn, straight at a demoralized Derrick Brown.
