I've been tailgating with Scotty for about 6-7 years now and I can tell you there are two things that man loves: his money and his tigers. Doesn't even live in S-port anymore, some small town in TX. Him and his wife fly his private jet in for all the home games.
He must post on the OT.

I lived in Shreveport for 2 years, and while there are ALOT of LSU fans, there are also lots of Arkansas, A&M, Bama, OU, and Texas fans to name a few. Many, many more than you would find in BR. Hell, Tim Fletcher, the leading sports guy on KTBS is a huge Arkansas fan, but a nice guy nonetheless.

That is interesting considering LSU has a campus in Shreveport.

Most of the students that go to LSUHSC were LSU fans, but not all. However, if you are talking about LSU-Shreveport the undergraduate school, there mascot is the "pilots" and were really no way affliated with LSU-BR besides it being in the LSU system.

WTF people, some of you tards are now questioning LSU loyalty within the state? some of you are poor miserable souls. If i Googled your name "Eric the Midget" would pop up.

I didn't think they liked LSU in Shreveport. According to many here, everyone is an Arkansas fan up there
The vast majority are LSU fans. Lots of hardcore fans as well. Not many like the piggies, but I do enjoy a good pig roast.

you do occasionally run into someone that actually went to LSU, few and far between
You do realize that a large portion of any schools fan base might have not attended the school. Guess you don't

The guy just sold out his mineral interests to Chesapeake for something like 289 million.
Wrong that would be EXCO Resources for the tune of 236 mil

A little history lesson for all of you.....
Exco Resources and Chesapeake were in a bidding war over the property. Exco had purchased Winchester Operating a year earlier which held the majority of the Cotton Valley leases around Frierson. Exco eventually leased the land from Scotty Moran for $50,000 an acre. There is around 4000 acres of property that he owns so that comes out to around 200 million. They drilled around 38 wells on the land and the roylaties were astronomical, so Scotty decided to give 10% to LSU. It was rumored that he was making 1 million every three days off roylaties, but i did some research and that was not true. It was more like 100K. Exco did buy the rights to all future minerals on any well that had not been drilled on his property for 236 million while he retains the rights to any existing well already in production.
He has donated A LOT of money to LSU.

I didnt say more, i said percentage wise. I would say that due to all the surrounding colleges, as well as it being a more metropolitan area Baton Rouge has more competition for fandom. It also probably has higher apathy rates among people who are not from the area or too rich/poor to follow college sports closely. Shreveport is through and through an LSU town. I know it sounded ridiculous (even enough to make it a sig?) but if you truly think about it, it is probable. What percent of the people in Tiger Stadium on Saturdays live in BR? Probably lower than you think.

I'm really not uber-douche Tim Fletcher, and if I was an Arky fan, would I have this LSU symbol next to my name?
I'm just a humble fan of one of the funniest movies of all time.
On topic, I'm a lifelong Shreveporter, and an ardent LSU fan, as are all of my friends here. Shreveport is a bastion of LSU fans, and no matter what the south wants to say, a great financial fount for the university as well.

Thank You Cam!
It's also pretty obvious on game days and the Fridays before there's a ton of folks out stocking up on food/beer and what not, then come game time the streets are quiet.

Took these today.
The "wall". Think I accidentally left the camera in macro mode but oh well.
There is another area with a LSU flag similar to the first but no sign just south of the wall. Mile marker 183 and the flags are about a mile north and south.

Met him a few times in Shreveport. Super nice guy and loves his Tigers. If I didn't know who he was, I never would have guessed he was filthy rich, he was very down to earth and didnt dress the part of a multi millionaire. He wasn't a name dropper by any means, but if you ever talk LSU football with him, it's crazy to hear him say," I talked to Les the other about such and such."
