What have you heard on both of those?

DRock, what have you heard on Godwin and Bianco?

Less and less every day. Godwin was way up there, but he's still playing. They can work closer with guys more readily available and equally/better qualified. I haven't heard of Bianco as a real serious candidate, to be honest, but I've heard the name some as a possibility. I feel Bianco would be the easy hire, so they really aren't doing much work on it.

ETA: I wouldn't hate hiring Bianco. Don't hate me. I think he'd get over the hump here. I think he'd keep Cain, though.

Bianco’s name has been mentioned. Not sure Godwin has much of a shot. It’s so hard to tell though because you don’t know who all will actually turn it down. It could easily fall to one of those or even someone else

Another factor is how much backlash SW is willing to take. Casey doesn’t seem to be a popular hire so far. But that’s what he gets paid to do.

I mean...what’s worse than Bianco? The only reason why we even remotely have Bianco in our conversations is because he was one of Skips boys and played for LSU. That’s it! Period!

He’d be an utter disaster. Could he excel for a couple seasons? Sure. But there are better available options. Why would The Premier College Baseball Program settle for a 6th or 7th choice when 1,2 & 3 are still in play?

We already fired Smoke. I suppose we could try mirrors.

It won’t be announced until we’re out the tournament. Have some respect for the current regime.

Mainieri has already announced he is retiring, whether we go 0-2 or win the CWS. It's no disrespect to him to have the next coach already lined up and proclaimed.

If it was an in-house promotion (not happening), lotsa places would have already stated "and this is going to be the guy next year".

Only 'disrespect' would be to announce a guy who's still playing (ie Corbin or Vitello). None of the names we hear, are. If you get one, go ahead and get him. Would be awesome if he showed up to watch the team with the AD, just my opinion.

Doesn't it seem a bit strange that no one has heard anything about Dan McDonnell? Smokescreens everywhere, names getting thrown around that absolutely no one expected, but not a peep about one of the best coaches in America who has publicly stated his admiration for LSU?

This s*it is unreal, man. Is this what its like every time?

Backlash from the media and outside parties is one thing. Backlash from a portion of the fanbase that will stop supporting the program. That’s another thing entirely.

It's got to be Sully, why else would he go 2 & BBQ in his own regional? But, I'm holding out for someone better...

It doesn’t get much better than Sully. I’d take two or three coaches over him and that’s it.

I’m ready for this shite to be over. I’m as nervous about this hire as I was with the regional last weekend.

One other factoid, any coach who’s team is playing still, will not be announced until they are done playing. Just common courtesy and respect.
