Various betting sights discuss bets on Miami vs Alabama, Wisconsin vs Penn St, Ga vs Clemson, and Texas vs Ragin Cajuns but they are all steering clear of UCLA vs LSU matchup. Interesting tidbit especially with many Tiger fans on TD having suggested that one is “easy money”.

I think a lot of people think it’s easy money that’s why they don’t waste much time talking about it. It’s pretty crazy the line is so low

Why would betting shows not discuss a sure thing, that makes no sense when that’s how they make a living, picking winners?

What appears more logical is that they have no sense as to how good LSU or UCLA really are. We’re about to find out.

By the way, take Alabama, Wisconsin, Texas and lay the points.

It always amazes me how close Vegas is on their lines. I know after opening line, it is bet-driven but they always seem to know something

Betting shows make money on content and sucking people into watch regularly OR selling systems/books, not picking winners.

If a line looks too good to be true it’s usually best to stay away from it or bet the other side. Vegas knows what they’re doing when setting those lines. I hope the Tigers win by 40, but the line is a little concerning for me.

The only line they set is the initial line. It’s consensus driven after that. Like ‘asking the crowd’.

Vegas hates Ed Ogeron. They know he is only as good as the people he hires, and there's a lot of new hires. He'll have to earn their respect back again.

After last year, O’s become too unreliable for Vegas.

Vegas nailed OSU-Minnesota and UCF-BYU. Not sure about the other games.

After how our defense looked last season? Not really.

However it can hardly be worse. Praying O got these hires right.

I’m just glad football is back. Anxious to see how we look.

The Football Nerds show actually both picked UCLA by 3 points (27-24 and 37-34). I was pretty surprised. They are based in the SEC footprint, and I would have thought they would be slightly favorable to LSU. They rely heavily on numbers and analytics, though, and without us playing a game yet they are forced to kind of rely on last year's terrible effort. I do think we win it, but it likely doesn't look as great as we'd like.

After a 5-5 season and no bowl game, Ed can’t afford to lose games in which he has the more talented team. Fans will be reminded of last season and calling for blood early.

This! The 65 over under is the more provocative line IMO.

LSU -3 is basically a toss up.

Personally, I never bet on LSU for the first game of the season with the exception being the last time we played Chip Kelly in an opener.

take LSU moneyline if you do not want to risk spread.

moneyline is great odds. -138

LSU is -2.5 spread wise on bookmaker

1) Most of the guys on these shows are professional gamblers. They make a significant portion of their annual income by picking winners.

2) Their ability to pick winners is highly related to their ability to accrue regular viewers and sell content.

I hope deronte Jones is a good DC but let's be real. He was the 4th or 5th choice at minimum. He doesn't have the skins on the wall at this level to be trusted yet. Chip Kelly is one of the most innovative offensive minds of a generation. It's a terrible match up for a game 1 of the season.

I think they expected UCLA to be fairly good and their opinion was confirmed in game 1. They have no idea if LSU has righted itself after that shitshow last year. If LSU is back to normal, they know that line is too low, but if not, UCLA should be favored.
