I don't believe it for one minute but he is likely the only one that has the power to clean up this mess.

well he's 74 years old and saw what college football had become with NIL and the portal, and he wanted none of it.

That's why he retired.

And you think he's now going to jump back in???

I'll play devil's advocate. When he quit all this NIL stuff was brand new and schools were very unorganized. Now most schools are more more organized, hell LSU has a GM. Less for him to deal with now. Like I said, just playing devil's advocate.

The time to do it was when Saban was 65 to 1 or something. That’d be a fun story.

At these odds? Meh.

It’s plausible. Verge has 3 years to max out his retirement dollars. Saban comes for 3 years, picks his successor then becomes AD.

So high that you can't even bet on it.

Lots of smoke around Saban recently.
Most of the time when there is lots of smoke, a fire is right under it.

The fact that LSU was still pulling top 7 HS classes and top portal classes despite BK and his hatred for recruiting.

Maybe it’s easier now for him to come. The assts do all the running around. The GM makes the roster happy, Boosters now play bigger part.

All Saban has to do is make sure we are on “right” path. There is not a lot of downside for him if he fails

All I'm going to say is I thought it was very interesting that they didn't once address it on Gameday.

That being said I'm not getting my hopes up. I think he stays on Gameday. Just thought that was interesting.

I have a very hard time to see it happening as well, but you point out one thing that could possibly be a sginificant factor.

For starters, he could realize that he misses coaching and feel he could still have a few good years left. He is sharp as shite still after all.

In addition to that though and this is what you stated, he’s seeing what’s happening to the program that he built at LSU and it’s turning his stomach and adding to his competitive juices and any potential desire to return.

It also damn sure doesn’t hurt that he and Verge are tight.

So possibly, combining those few factors, he’s willing to consider it. That’s as far as I’ll go with it.

Maybe Saban placed a bet (via proxy) on himself when the odds were 75:1 and now he has let it leak that he is interested and maybe he even takes the job so he can cash in on that bet. Or maybe he saw how easy it was for BK to make $100 mil and if BK can get $100 mil then surely Saban can get $200 mil so he intends to come BR and work on his golf game while stacking cash like BK did.

Yup, this is all true. The downside for him is that it is now harder to develop talent because if they aren't starting they are bolting quick.
