SEC has been one of the top 2 conferences for awhile in my opinion except they can't win the big one.

Just wow. Had LSU lost, it would have been only softball, right? I'm glad to see the school excel at all sports but bringing up ULL in a discussion just to chastise them makes you no better.

So when you see an "LSU" sign, is it inappropriate, since the name is "Louisiana State University and Agricultural and Mechanical College", or LSU A&M.

You fricking moron.

So softball is relavant now? Can't have it both ways. At least the Cajun fans have backed their program from the beginning.

shhhh....don't let the Lafayette media know. Was watching one of the local morning shows & they poured congrats & praise on the ulala team for their fantastic season but never once did they mention the state team that WON their super regional & will actually be PLAYING in the world series.

Well this Louisiana thing is a little confusing as there will likely be some Louisiana shirts of another school at the box this week. Most ULM fans embrace there name though.

No, because state law does not prevent LSU from branding itself as "LSU." It does, however, prevent ULL from trying to be "UL" or position itself as a flagship of the University of Louisiana System.

ULL has been trying to circumvent state law for their power grab for years now. LSU is LSU.

I am a LSU fan without exception, living in Lafayette. I have seen both teams play many times, and ULL clearly has a much better team. They would have beaten A&M and Missouri just as we did had they gotten our draw. ASU is a much, much better team than those two.

Gotta agree...playing at ASU was a terrible draw.

There are 3 systems of higher education in the state: LSU system, UL system and Southern University system.

Yes, as the largest university within it's system, ULL is attempting to brand itself UL.

I don't know if it's "against state law" for ULL to brand itself "UL" or not. Obviously you know more than I do. But, it's no different than University of Texas at Austin branding itself UT. It's the largest university within its system of 8 others.

I'm starting to believe that LSU fans are the ones with the penis envy. So afraid that ULL/UL will start taking some of LSU's thunder.

It's time for LSU and ULL to start playing again in softball with games in Lafayette as well, the old coach is gone

No reason these two teams should not be playing year in and year out

I was born and raised in Lafayette and have since moved to Mufreesboro, TN. I used to go watch USL games when Brian Mitchel was the qb. I've always cheered for both, LSU and ULL. Why is that such a bad thing?

Exactly. Why worry about them. We're over here pushing people down, while they're just trying to get their picture on the fridge.
