I forget who was the opponent but Skyler Green caught a punt and spun all in one motion and completely blew out a tackler, then ran it for a TD.

There was a hold/block that pulled it back though.

Wing will probably never NOT be the top answer to this otherwise though.

Much as I love the Wing play, it'd didn't cost us a National Championship. (That was later.)

Semoy Hackett failing a drug test and thus getting our 2012 Women's Outdoor T&F Natty revoked is a bigger negation due to penalty.

quote:The 15 yd PF on Vadal Alexander on the first play after recovering Yeldon’s fumble inside their own 5 yd line in 2014. This is what came to mind as well. I don't recall the preceding play. It wasn't anything spectacular. But penalty ensured we would only get a FG attempt and would leave time on the clock for Bama. What should've been called was unsportsmanlike conduct on the Bama player for not letting go of Vadal's leg. Instead, when he refused to Vadal shoved him away and we get flagged Instead. Had it been ref'd correctly, we would've had a 1st and goal and could've probably run out the clock and kicked the winner.

This. This one uncalled for flag was like a fork in the road for the LSU Bama series. We should’ve won that game, and I think it would’ve set off a different reality where we didn’t feel second place to them every year.

No doubt! This bogus penalty was the beginning of the end of Mike Archer and gave Watson Brown his only win that season.

The game that ended Les Miles tenure at LSU. 2016 Auburn LSU. I can't remember exactly what happened, but Fournette scored a game winning TD with 1 second left on the clock.

It was called back on a penalty, game over. Next day Les Miles was booted and O took over as interim HC.

Kinda . . .

There was a penalty on the preceding play with :01 left on the clock. The clock started on the ref's signal and even though we ran the play and Etling's pass was caught by Chark for an apparent TD, we didn't get the play off in time.

This was a microcosm of Les's tenure.

LSU-Bama 2014 - Vadal Alexander Penalty

The Bama player was ostensibly trying to 'clear' the pile to let the refs set the ball without running time off the clock. But Bama was calling TO anyway so there was no need to. So he grabs Vadal's leg and then Vadal shoves him and gets a 15-yd personal foul call.

But if you watch, even before that, #90 from Bama (first) shoves Pocic for no reason.

Joke was on them, seeing as how his replacement for the first half of the Bama game has had a more impactful NFL linebacking career than Devin White has.

Fournette had a long run against Syracuse that would have put him over 300 yds. Always bothered me.

Bro I always felt the same way. He was an absolute beast that game and had two runs that were called back by penalty that would have given him the single game rushing record.

Best LSU plays that were negated by penalties?

besides Brad Wing I have 4 plays that stick out more than the rest.

1. Malik Nabers touchdown against the aggies last year that was called back because of a blocking penalty on Kyren really bothered me.

2. National Championship game against Oklahoma we kicked a field goal to go up 17 and it got erased due to a hold and 15 yd penalty after the play that opened the door for OU to get back in the game. Always pissed me off. The hold was ticky tacky and the after the play penalty involved OU as well so should have been offsetting still giving us the opportunity to kick the field goal to go up 17. instead we faked the 55 yd field goal.

3. Jamarcus Russell against Georgia in the SEC Championship threw like a 66 yd touchdown bomb to Brazil that was wiped away due to a hold that literally prevented us from getting back in the game. That one has stuck with me too.

4. Then someone else mentioned it but the hold or block in the back penalty that wiped out the long touchdown run of Fournette that would have put him over 300 yds and the single game rushing record.
