Landry not only has the best hands in LSU football history, but also in college football history. This fact is not remotely debatable.

Personally, I would argue that he has the best hands in the history of organized sports.

50 years of watching LSU... I don't think I've seen better hands than OBJ nor have I seen a better "want" to catch the ball than Landry... Mett has a great arm but these two guys made catches out of interceptions and incompletions every game. Of course, it helps that they get to wear gloves... Old school guys had to use flesh.

Jarvis Landry and Wendell Davis are the best hands I've seen at LSU.

I give the edge to Landry. But it's only by a hair.

Davis was an incredible receiver for the Tigers. I wish you younger guys could have seen him play.

Wendell Davis, and it's not even close.

Sorry... would have to put Reid and Martin ahead of Davis.

Reid could do it all and was tough as nails. Caught 19 for about 300 against Bama one year. Had a good QB in Rohan most of the time.

Martin was like elastic man. The guy was not very fast at all but was extremely flexible and athletic. He would snatch balls more than catch them. Saw him make a diving one handed catch over the middle against Nebraska in Orange Bowl that was one of the best catches I ever saw. He literally came out of his shoe as he dove for the ball. No DVR in those days and I dont even think they replayed it during game. Had Risher slingin him passes.

Davis was blue collar all the way. Alot like Andre Reed or Marvin Harrison. He did not dazzle you with spectacular catches but got the job done. Tommy Hodson was on his game a couple of seasons there and was throwing great and Davis was the beneficiary of Hodsons unbelievable accuracy.

You cannot leave Carlos Carson out of this conversation. He was amazing during a time when LSU was not a pass happy team. Proved it by playing forever in the pros. Was there when he snagged 5 TDs in game against Rice.

Landry deserves to be included in discussion to.

But I would have to say my final answer for "Best Hands" is Eric Martin.

Wendell (and Reed) were super consistent. Neither one made the circus catches that Landry and Martin made. You will search in vain for either of those guys making a catch to rival either of Landry's Arky catches. For Martin, on the other hand, you will not have to search long. I give you his catch vs. Nebraska in the Orange Bowl. One-handed, with three Nebraska defenders in contact. One is hitting him almost full on from the safety position. As great as Josh Reed and Wendall Davis were - and you could argue that they were better college receivers - they didn't have quite the hands of Martin or Landry.

This so far is the only post that makes sense. I have not read them all yet though. I praise your knowledge and agree.

Way too much praise for Davis and Clayton. I get Davis but Clayton? He was good but down the list for best Tigers Ever at wr position.

Need to find the link to Martin catch in Orange Bowl. I could not believe my eyes watching that. One of the best catches ever and not talked about much.

Landry's catch in Arkansas game this year was another of the best catches I ever saw.

I only recall that one interception vs. Bama in 2011...perhaps your thinking of Josh Reed

I guess you don't remember his one-handed, diving catch from behind the DB for touchdown?

These 3 or Landry. All had great hands.

Landry made 2 of the best catches ive ever seen (this year on Mett's last pass, and last year against arkansas in the endzone.) He was also the most clutch 3rd down receiver i can remember.

Martin and Landry were great. Clayton was good not great.

My personal top 10 Best LSU Wide Receivers:

1. Josh Reed
2. Eric Martin
3. Jarvis Landry
4. Carlos Carson
5. Wendell Davis
6. Jerel Myers
7. Todd Kinchen
8. Eddie Kennison
9. Michael Clayton
10. Buster Davis

I'm only 49 so don't remember the oft mentioned great Andy Hamilton. Just going by who I saw play.

Link to catches as good as Landry's Arky catches.

Read previous post. "two of the best catches by any receiver on any level" mean anything?

The fail was you saying that "Josh Reed never had circus catches." He had plenty.

So, you fail.

How did this thread morph from "best hands" into "best receiver"? Anyhow, my top three are Wendell Davis, Eric Martin and Landry. I give the two older guys a slight edge because they were pre sticky glove era. Its close though, J. Landry is one of the best contested ball receivers i can remember.

I have been watching LSU football for a while. I have never seen anyone make the catches routinely with defenders draped all over him as Landry. Reed was often so open that you couldn't understand it.

Can we all just forget 2001 LSU/Bama??? Just about the time I get the memories of that game suppressed one of y'all have to start a thread bringing his name back up.

My sentimental vote as an outsider would be Carlos Carson because he went to the high school where my dad was Dean of Boys and later principal (John I. Leonard HS)
