Been a minute since I've watched an LSU game in a bar downtown in Austin so I'm trying to decide on the venue for the 11am game vs Tennessee game. Have family coming in and we will want to eat great and figure out a good atmosphere. At this point I'm probably leaning towards Rustic Tap on 6th.
Obviously Shoal Creek is an option but kind of dark inside and looking for more wide open hoping for some cooler outside weather to roll in so that's why I'm thinking Rustic Tap.

Thoughts appreciated

You named the only two I’ve ever been to. This question is asked a lot though. I’d do a search.

I'd keep in mind that Texas is playing Oklahoma at the same time that day.

Shoal Creek has a large patio but not sure of the TV situation there.

I don't need strippers and filet mignon(would be nice now I'm thinking of it) but what was your most recent experience at Rustic Tap or did you like Shoal Creek better?

Right 11am kickoff as well so that's why I'm trying to find a LSU dominant place but ok if other games are on like the Red River game. I want to have as many games on as possible.

last time I went to Rustic tap was for Bama in 2018. Went with my wife and some friends. Lots of fun as misery loves company in a letdown of a game. Show up early to get a good seat.

Been to Shoal creek a bunch. Last time was 2019 versus Bama. Advantage is almost everyone there is an LSU fan but you aren’t bunched together with them like at Rustic tap. You’re at your own table

I enjoyed sitting outside the last time we went. Food is decent too.

I guess I prefer shoal creek with a group and Rustic tap when it’s just me and my wife.

Used to also get people at Lavaca Street Bar when I lived there, but that was 8 years ago.

Shoal Creek and Rustic Tap are the two main LSU bars that come to mind. The Austin chapter of the LSU alumni association hosts watch parties at various venues. They usually post the locations on their web site a few days prior to the game.

Yeah I'm gonna be with about 6-8 of us. After lunch or half they will be going shopping at Barton Creek and the guys will stay so I like the idea of a more open place with a table but we will most probably need to get there by 10am for a table. Especially considering the UT and Oklahoma game is the exact same time.

Shoal Creek and Rustic Tap are your only two options because of the Red River Shootout.
