It’s very possible that most of that talk is not real and that teams just never got that warm, fuzzy feeling when meeting with him. Part of it is Guice’s fault. He fired his first agent, Fadde Mikhail, and hired a new agent, one who clearly was not ready for the stock fall or the rampant rumors spreading.

I would point my finger at his agent. If he had someone experienced with dealing with rumors and promoting his client better his drop probably would not of happened.

In the end I think Derrius is going to be alright.

SPECIFIC unsubstantiated rumors about his behavior on campus floating around for over a year .

If they’re THAT specific, it would have come out. Hope it does now, because I don’t know what you’re referring to.

I don’t care care what he did or didn’t do on campus. In pre draft meetings and interviews, it’s obvious he didn’t put his best foot forward. Beyond that, it’s also obvious he fabricated multiple stories about teams questioning his sexual orientation and his mother’s virtue as a woman.

It literally sparked an NFL Investigation. So all of the teams who interviewed this guy or had any interest in the guy had to endure a grilling by the League Office and had to deal within scrutiny for shite they didn’t do.

All because of a kid who decided when he was in front of a camera to make up lies about his potential employers. Jeff Ireland and many others have gotten in trouble over the past 5 years regarding the interview process & questions that were and are sometimes asked. After all that heat, are you really going to get the warm & fuzzies about a kid who puts you back under the microscope by lying and making shite up?

He got treated as seriously as he treated the draft process. Which is not very.

His quotes about his great personality and how he is great to everybody show a lack of awareness regarding the comments he made and just how much responsibility he feels he has for his situation.

I agree, which is why I think this article is the objective piece out there.

The one position that teams should value maturity is QB and the Browns took Baked Mayfield first overall.

Well Baker didn’t dare to challenge “the integrity of the shield.”

That’s not a knock on Guice, but it just goes to show you to what lengths the NFL will go to protect itself.

Not that Saints fans need this reminder.

Wonder what the other difference is between Mayfield (who I like) and Guice?

Why the frick do we test more than anybody?

We don’t have to turn in results of our self tests. It’s a good way to identify things and help guys before they turn into real problems like dependency on meds or guys who can’t stop smoking weed.

I’ve always thought he was gay, not that I care but they don’t like that in the NFL. Instead, they called him “high maintenance”.

Again, Guice has proven himself immature well before this mess and was pretty immature in his time at LSU. Just take a look at his Twitter the last couple of years and you’ll see the signs.

It’s not something unique here either. LSU’s Team maturity is not that great and it starts at the top and is something that also existed with Les but continues with O in charge. The most successful teams are not like that and it is an obvious issue at LSU.

This pretty much sums it up. I had a former employee who was a side piece of his. Her cell phone alone would have dropped him to the 4th round at best. She was having problems with him to the point that I told her to bring her phone to Coach O and let him deal with it.

Kids should learn to turn his phone off during job interviews. There should be a special course for atheletes about blabbermouthing on social media.

I don't see why people are making such a big deal over this. There was a good chance Guice wasn't getting drafted in the first round anyway and if he did loose his cool with Philly staff then that's on him. The NFL can draft whoever they want and when they want, no player is entitled to a certain slot.

a lot of people forget that "internal perceived" need by a team makes a huge difference.
I only saw the early part of round 2, but it looked as if linemen were in demand.

Out of all the muck that was his draft plunge, it basically sounds like his lack of maturity scared off most teams

Think this is pretty much it. Even the "LSU source" spoke on his immaturity. NFL teams expect you to approach the draft process like a job interview and it seems like Guice didn't. He'll learn.

With everything he's gone through, if immaturity is the worst thing about him then I think he turned out well.
