Many big guys play inside and have good FG %, but can't shoot a lick outside 10 feet. Hell, Shaq finished his NBA career making 58% of his shots, but shot only 53% from the free throw line. Why? Because he couldn't shoot.
Simmons can't shoot outside 12 feet, but maybe that will improve over the years. But at LSU, and apparently now in the NBA, he's not a shooter. Maybe he's a scorer, but not a shooter.
And you know the difference.

Of course I know the difference, but you can’t knock him for not being able to shoot when he is making a high volume of shots at an outrageous clip.
Some of the best players now & then couldn’t “shoot” either. That is the most worthless criticism of Simmons you can hit him with

You completely ignored my post - which was that FG%, by itself, doesn't reveal whether a player is a good SHOOTER. For example, Shaq had a career 58% FG percentage, but was an AWFUL SHOOTER. Everybody in the world knows this.
And I never said a great player has to be a great shooter.
I merely agreed with a prior poster who said Simmons isn't a great shooter. Which is true. Now he may be a great SCORER, but that's different than being a great SHOOTER.
