Artis Gilmore? Bob Lanier? Wes Unseld? Those guys would have trouble in today's game.
All those guys do pretty good on defense on my 2k18 MyTeam squad.

That's great and all but nowadays players don't have to dribble.
LOL. Watch a game from the 80's. You didn't see the cross-over dribbles and no-look passes like you do today. Aside from Isaiah Thomas, there weren't a lot of guys who had the handles of even an average point guard today. Magic used his physical size to get to his spot. Watch other PGs back in the 70's and 80's. You had Dennis Johnson, Oscar Robertson, Walt Frazier, Earl Monroe, Randy Smith. None of those guys had a handle like the point guards today.
If you watch tape, you'll see them drive to the left while dribbling with their right hand. That wouldn't cut it today.
In addition, the centers, power forwards, and even the small forwards didn't dribble that much. That wasn't their role. Today, all those guys are expected to be able to take their man off the dribble. Look at the Pelicans bigs. Can you name a single player that was at least 6-11 who was as versatile as those dudes in the 70's and 80's?

Maravich, Jackson, Pettit all respectively disagree.

Did you watch the documentary? That's what really changed my mind about Ben. He hinted through out that he hated LSU.
No, he hinted that he hated the NCAA for making him put off millions of dollars he was qualified to earned. He didn't hate LSU, he just acknowledged he was there because he was being forced to.
He would not have come to LSU if he was allowed to go straight to the league, but he still chose to come to LSU over every other school. I don't understand why that makes so many hate him.

who cares? not a real tiger
Posted on 12/19/17 at 5:23 pm to tlsu15
So none of the ky guys could ever go straight to league? Lol. Weak argument. I'll never consider him a tiger.

At least you don't hide your true colors.

Agreed. If it is worth doing, then give your all... regardless of the situation. He didn't give one Frick. That's his option...but don't expect me to support that low character dude...not that he cares.

See, this is why I rarely post here. Simmons wouldn’t crack my top 10 and probably not even top 15 all time LSU basketball players. I don’t care what he’s doing in the NBA which definitely surprises me though I’m confident he’ll fail. We’re talking just LSU here and comparing his talent here to others who’ve come through LSU. In no particular order all of the following were much better players at LSU. Shaq, Pistol Pete, Chris Jackson, Stromile Swift, Rudy Macklin, Brandon Bass, Glenn Davis, Bob Petit, Tyrus Thomas, Marcus Thornton, Jarell Martin, Jordan Mickey, Johny O’Bryant.
Now had he played more than one year and actually developed a shot i’m sure he’d move up some.

This is so ignorant, I don't know where to begin. The defense in the NBA is the best it's ever been, which is to say, the best in the world.
Geez
Are you freaking 12? Touch fouls, no passing lanes. These idiots let players blow by them.
The big men hang around the 3 point line. ZERO DEFENSE.
And Harden is absolutely the worse. Zero effort. Dude I go to the Rockets games all the time and that’s one of the biggest knocks on players like him.
CP3 is a rare exception to defense. On the Rockets he is considered a Unicorn by us fans.
Do yourself a favor and go watch games from the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s.

lol
he averaged 19/11.8reb/4.8ast and shot 56%. Those numbers have never been duplicated in LSU history, and only twice in NCAA history. And you sitting here listing some of these guys in the same category.
All this done, AS A FRESHMAN

You know what’s funny? You’ve never watched ball in that era because you failed to mention the calls for Palming the ball.
Maravich constantly crossed over opponents and threw tons of no Look passes for example as did O and other guards.
Magic had so many no look passes, geez...
What a deprived generation.

Like I give a rats arse what his numbers were while he was here. He surely wasn’t great and clearly not as good as the players I listed. How quickly people forget how great those guys I listed were at LSU. I don’t care if he averaged 30/30/30, he didn’t win shite and he didn’t make the team any better like the great ones do. He couldn’t shoot, I mean come on!
